Not only will STAR WARS: EPISODE II - ATTACK OF THE CLONES be getting the IMAX treatment, but it looks like the film will also be getting a running time "haircut." The maximum 120-minute capacity for most IMAX platter systems dictates a cut of 23 minutes from the original release of the film's 143-minute running length.
THEFORCE.NET notes the appearance of an IMAX-oriented news item at the website for a Boston area IMAX theater. The item cites the print-only LFX (LARGE FORMAT EXAMINER) as saying, "The IMAX edition, which will be distributed by Twentieth Century Fox 'exclusively to IMAX theaters,' will be trimmed from its original 143 minutes to fit the 120-minute capability of most IMAX platter systems", and notes the cut was confirmed by a Lucasfilm spokesperson.
Additionally, the comprehensive listing of large-format films at CINERGETICS.COM, the LFX website, lists STAR WARS EPISODE II: THE IMAX EXPERIENCE as clocking in at 120 minutes.
