Can't wait. Although, Fisher looks like she's still got a few pounds to lose before they start shooting.

A recent pic of Hamill that showed up last week shows he's dropped 60 lbs in one year and sporting a beard.

Also kudos to Abrams for keeping the tradition of casting a classic actor. Guiness, Cushing, Lee. So cool.

Apparently more casting announcements to come.

Let's play the speculation game!

Gleeson - Lukes' son

Ridley - Han and Leia's daughter

Maisie Richardson Sellers - Obiwan's daughter (big rumour)

Driver - villain

Boyega - jedi apprentice (maybe Mace's son? Lando's?)

Zac Efron (apparently he's in but busy promoting his movie) - Han and Leia's son?

I saw this earlier.  I am looking forward to this.  It has to be better than the last three made.  I'm just laughing that Harrison is sitting there after he said he would never play Han again.  Said he didn't like the character.  Glad he changed his mind I guess.

@almostunbiased

I'm guessing there are several reasons why Ford changed his mind.

1) Not getting any younger and not getting the meaty roles anymore. I doubt Ford would have been in Expendables movie or so-so sci-fi (Ender's Game) 20 years ago when he was picky and earning 20 million a movie. He's picking more the "hip' roles too. Anchorman 2 for example. Again, would have never seen Ford in a comedy like that years ago.

2) Calista Flockhart. Who knows, maybe she wanted him to play the role again. She was just a kid when these movies came out. Who knows, maybe she begged him to play Solo again? You never know.

3) Abrams. Ford is still loyal to Lucas for jumpstarting his career but will never admit he is a poor director. Working with Abrams is working with the new Hollywood "it" guy. From movies to his Bad Robot studio. See point 1 on "associated with hipness"

4) Money! One last hurrah and one last paycheck before he more than likely retired or his salary keeps going down.

For Max Von Sydow's where you know him from: you should have just said "Everything".

SmokingFrog77 4/30/2014 3:08:35 AM

The Son of Gleeson looks like a good choice for the Son of Skywalker. I wonder if, given that Billy Dee Williams didn't get called up, Boyega is going to be the Son of Calrissian? And if Adam Driver is going to be a villain, I'll guess that we won't be seeing Jacen (or whatever name they'll give him in this film) Solo - unless they do borrow from the now-old EU and have the Son of Solo become a Sith.  Max Von Sydow would make a good choice for a Thrawn-esque old Imperial military commander. Andy Serkis is an interesting wildcard.

ElBaz13 4/30/2014 5:27:36 AM

Serkis is probably a CG character since he is the king of mocap.

Higgy 4/30/2014 8:54:24 AM

I think Serkis would play a great Jedi Master just as himself.  He has the look for it when he grows a beard.  I hope he doesn't play a CGI character at all.

Sydow is just an awesome casting.

I'm not liking the whole "child of Obiwan".  In the clone wars, he was very adamant about not having any relations with a woman.  I don't get why that would change.

I know. But, Star Wars the Clone Wars is part of the official canon along with the 6 movies and Star Wars Rebels.

If you watched the Clone Wars cartoon (SPOILERS IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO WATCH):

Obiwan has an "old flame", Duchess Satine of Mandalore. When Obi was younger and a padawan of Qui gon, they spent almost 1 year on Mandalore protecting her. They had feelings for each other but Obi was reassigned. Obi said had she asked him to stay, he would have for her.  So..yeah, he was being a bit hypocritial with Anakin. But, if Clone Wars is official canon, it shows he is capable of love. Maybe he found someone else?

But, the math doesn't make much sense though. Obi was 60 at the time of ANH. I doubt he fathered a kid right before he met Luke unless he's Michael Douglas or Robert Deniro.  And even if he did, this new movie takes place 30 years later. This kid would have to be 30 plus years old. I think the actors are all in their early 20s (Maisie Richardson)

So yes, Obi is capable of love but his kids have to be older.

Maybe he hooked up with Mace Windu's sister after he went to tell her the bad news abou her bro? :)
