Hollywood Reporter published a few interesting tidbits regarding STAR WARS and INDIANA JONES 4.

The article talks about the upcoming Licensing 2006 International Trade Show being held in New York.

Regarding INDIANA JONES 4:

Howard Roffman, president of Lucas Licensing, said the Lucasfilm division also will be looking for licensing partners for the summer 2007 release of a new "Indiana Jones" video game from LucasArts and the summer 2008 release of a new "Indiana Jones" movie.

Regrading STAR WARS:

Lucas Licensing, which had its strongest year ever last year for "Star Wars" consumer products with about $3 billion in worldwide retail sales, said it will be discussing its upcoming entertainment and marketing initiatives for the franchise with some of its 500 worldwide licensees at the show.

Among those initiatives are the first CG-animated "Star Wars" TV series slated for 2008, a live-action "Star Wars" series in preproduction, a new video game from LucasArts tied to the 30th anniversary of "Star Wars" that will be released in fall 2007, the release of the original versions of the first three "Star Wars" films on DVD singles in the fall and a new Lego "Star Wars" video game based on the original trilogy, also scheduled for fall.

I really wonder if Indiana Jones 4 will ever get made. Part three was a great finish to the series, but I would like to see one more adventure for an aging Indy. Star Wars I just don't care about anymore. I loved Star Wars and Empire and thought Jedi was just ok (I hated those damn Ewoks). The prequels...well, I guess Darth Vader summed it up best when he said "Nnnnnnnnnnnnoooooooooooooooo!" A live action series should be based on Darth Vader's search for his children and the destruction of the Republic.

I could care less about the TV series and animated Cartoon. Lucas let me down a Long time ago with episode 1. The only thing i want to hear out of his mouth is when Knight of the Old republic 3 will be released.!

#3... I'd say that's a pretty comment sentiment. Maybe they could stick a TV series during the KotOR period. There'd be plenty of lightsabers and action for all the casual fans to know that its Star Wars, and a great source of original material for the more serious fan.

I enjoyed the Clone Wars cartoon and it's nice to see some dates associated with the projects.

I'm looking forward to the Star Wars lego game and one thing I'd like to see is a massive multiplayer online version of X-Wing VS Tie Fighter:

Simple rounds where people hit space bar after blowing up and launch from the Death Star or Rebel cruisers and go into huge dog fights until either the Death Star blows up, the Death Star blows up the Rebel Cruisers / Yavin 4, or the 20 - 30 minute round ends and sends everyone back to the main menu to choose the next set of battles they want to enjoy.

The controls could be as simple as they were with the original X-Wing vs Tie Fighter and if needs be, people an communicate via headsets.

I just think it'd be fun to have about 32 human players on either side with another 32 AI ships on either side and more constantly spilling out until the objective is met.

Have about 20 different missions that you can choose from, cycle through, or whatever. Just a thought.

It sounds like they are committed to a 2008 summer release of Indy 4.

For Star Wars... unless it's after the Return of the Jedi... I could care less at this point.

Hell, if the movie never gets made the game may actually make up for it. It's still pretty early in development, but I saw a tech demo from E3, and it looks spectacular. LucasArts may actually have thier shit together on this one. They've developed a new physics engine called Euphoria, which pushes Ragdoll physics to a whole new level by giving each NPC character thier own nervous system essentially, allowing them to react to the players actions in ways I've never seen in a game before. One of the Sequences featured Indy beating back hordes of enemies from the top of a moving vehicle. The non player characters on screen reacted to the movements of the vehicle, attempting to maintain thier balance, and as the person playing Indy beat the crap out of them, they would fall back, and attempt to brace themselves or catch themselves as they fell from the vehicle to thier doom. I saw another portion located in a city street, beautifully rendered, where again Indy was once again putting the smackdown on his pursuers. When grappling with a foe and pushing them back, the enemy would attempt to steady himself against whatever was behind him, be it by pulling himself back up from the bumper of a nearby car, or by reacting realistically to whatever is at hand in the environment. The days of scripted events in games are numbered, if this new engine is as revoloutionary as it seems.
The demo I saw was on 360 hardware, and the game is going to be gorgeous. Unless something truly unfortunate and irresponsible happens this should be the best Indiana Jones Game LucasArts has made yet.
Check out www.gamespot.com and search for Indiana Jones in the XBOX 360 section and there should be a video. The game's story obviously doesn't have anything to do with the proposed 4th film. The developers at LucasArts are apparrently as skeptical the new film will ever get made as we are.

Prepare for your wallets to be raped again, fanboys!
BTW, for the adminst: I use the term "rape" in the correct sense of the word: "Carried off by force" not the modern version...though both work. Lucas is at it again! Prepare for ye wallets to be plundered!

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Wrinkle Cream should do well. AARP can recruit people right off the Senior Citizen McDonalds Coffee specials. That would be a good tie in I think. We all know the real title should be...Indiana Jones and the Search for Original Movie Ideas.
