Most probably have heard of the online petition for our govt. to build a DeathStar as a way to strengthen our national defense, spur job growth, engineering and space exploration. Well the respond from the White House is out and pretty funny IMO, at least the 2nd two points

•The construction of the Death Star has been estimated to cost more than $850,000,000,000,000,000. We’re working hard to reduce the deficit, not expand it.
•The Administration does not support blowing up planets.
•Why would we spend countless taxpayer dollars on a Death Star with a fundamental flaw that can be exploited by a one-man starship?

Hanso, I don't agree that a Star Wars series without the Jedi wouldn't be a real Star Wars series.  The Jedi are just one aspect of that universe and one of the greatest things about SW is it's vastness from the Empire to the Rebellion, to Han Solo's background, to the characters at Mos Eisley Catina and surrounding areas, to the Bounty Hunters, to the characters at Jabba's palace.  The Jedi aren't a necessity.  I understood why there were so many in the prequels given the background of their plots.  However, I find them much more interesting when there are fewer of them, it gives them a more mysterious backdrop like when we were first introduced to Ben Kenobi in A New Hope.

Elbalz, I totally agree with you about how they should proceeed with any new SW project!!  Maybe if Lucas and his yes minions would've stop thinking about CG for more than 2 seconds maybe we would've had this series out a few years ago!

Kind of off topic, but something I just thought of - if in the era of the Star Wars movies the Sith have a rule of two, Master and Apprentice - no more, no less, according to Yoda - why are Sith apprentices allowed to take apprentices?  As good as The Clone Wars is, it is the reason for my question.  Count Dooku has that bald assassin chick that he has trained in the ways of the Sith.  Just wondering if anybody can explain this.

Hey they're bad guys. If they stuck to the rules they may as well be jedis and not siths :)

Besides isn't that a made up rule anyway by a previous sith lord? as opposed to something that's impossible.

I agree 100% with EIBaz!!!

As far as I know the Rule of Two was initiated by the Sith Lord....Darth Bane, about 1000 yrs before ANH, he thought having multiple Sith Lords made the Sith to much like the Jedi Order.......

Sith Apprentice's, supposedly, train their own apprentice in anticipation of the day they take out their Master and become the one true Sith Lord.....

 THANK you, DarthoftheDead...LOL

I agree with everything keithdaniel said(for a change).  He's absolutely right. But who said anything about there not being Jedi/Lightsabers?  Because of the timeline setting?  One thing that's actually integral to Star Wars moreso than Jedi or Lightsabers is The Force, which is and would likely be very much part of the storyline.  Either way, the war, the politics, the space battles, the sense of adventure and running from storm troopers, that is Star Wars.  And if we're getting Game of Thrones: Star Wars Edition, I'm watching it plenty!

They have been talking about this for years now. It would be nice to see it take off.
