STARGATE SG-1 searches for two more teammates

The FilmJerk website has published character descriptions for two new recurring characters slated to appear in the next season of STARGATE SG-1. Filming on the eighth season of the popular Sci-Fi Channel is set to commence in February 2004.

According to FilmJerk, the two new SG-1 team members will be Colonel Kyle Hooper and Dr. Maggie Greer. Casting agencies are looking for an actor between the ages of 35 and 45 to play Hooper, described as being a "soldier's soldier" and a "wry, witty sense of humor". Hooper will be at odds with the general in command of the Stargate program (it's unclear whether this refers to the character of General Hammond, played by Don S. Davis, or a new SGC general.)

As for Greer, agencies are looking for an actress between the ages of 25 to 35. Greer was once an outspoken critic of Dr. Daniel Jackson and his wild theories that the ancient Egyptian culture may have been influenced by extraterrestials. Now that she's been recruited to be a part of the SG team, Greer is having difficulty accepting a military chain of command structure.

Curiously, the only cast member listed on the information FilmJerk saw was Richard Dean Anderson. That doesn't necessarily mean Anderson will be the only returning SG-1 cast member back for an eighth season; in fact, earlier reports indicated that Anderson was scaling back his involvement as an actor on the show and would only appear in a handful of new episodes. This may be the reason for the introduction of the Colonel Hooper character.
