For months now, it's been speculated by CRANK creators Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor that a sequel was very likely on the horizon. Today, it's been confirmed by the studio, says Variety. Neveldine and Taylor are creating two new films, both starring Jason Statham. A new futuristic thriller called GAME will be shot back-to-back with the CRANK 2 film for Lakeshore Entertainment & Lionsgate, both written & directed by the duo. The former will be filmed first starring Gerard Butler, Jason Statham, Michael C. Hall, Amber Valletta, Logan Lerman, Alison Lohman, John Leguizamo, Johnny Whitworth, Zoe Bell and Kyra Sedgwick. Production will begin on November 5 in Albuquerque, N.M.
Plot Concept for GAME: This thriller takes place in the near future, when mind-control technology has taken society by storm. In this dystopian world, the ultimate online simulation environment is humans remote-controlling other humans in mass-scale, multiplayer online gaming. Butler plays Kable, the No. 1-ranked warrior in the highest-rated game, called "Slayers." With his every move tracked by millions, Kable's ultimate challenge is to regain his identity and bring down the system that has imprisoned him.
Plot Concept for CRANK 2: Chelios (Jason Statham) faces a Chinese mobster who has stolen his nearly indestructible heart and replaced it with a battery-powered ticker that requires regular jolts of electricity to keep working.
