Statham Ready For CRANK 2 & GAME

For months now, it's been speculated by CRANK creators Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor that a sequel was very likely on the horizon. Today, it's been confirmed by the studio, says Variety. Neveldine and Taylor are creating two new films, both starring Jason Statham. A new futuristic thriller called GAME will be shot back-to-back with the CRANK 2 film for Lakeshore Entertainment & Lionsgate, both written & directed by the duo. The former will be filmed first starring Gerard Butler, Jason Statham, Michael C. Hall, Amber Valletta, Logan Lerman, Alison Lohman, John Leguizamo, Johnny Whitworth, Zoe Bell and Kyra Sedgwick. Production will begin on November 5 in Albuquerque, N.M.

Plot Concept for GAME: This thriller takes place in the near future, when mind-control technology has taken society by storm. In this dystopian world, the ultimate online simulation environment is humans remote-controlling other humans in mass-scale, multiplayer online gaming. Butler plays Kable, the No. 1-ranked warrior in the highest-rated game, called "Slayers." With his every move tracked by millions, Kable's ultimate challenge is to regain his identity and bring down the system that has imprisoned him.

Plot Concept for CRANK 2: Chelios (Jason Statham) faces a Chinese mobster who has stolen his nearly indestructible heart and replaced it with a battery-powered ticker that requires regular jolts of electricity to keep working.

I enjoyed Crank. It was a fun action movie. But come on, he jumped out of a helicopter to his death at the end. Now he's got a pacemaker? makes no sense. *slaps self* sorry my logic got loose there for a moment

I think Statham is one of the better action stars around. But if he doesn't start making better choices he's going to end up like VanDamme and Seagal.

GAME kinda sounds ""RUNNING MAN" like

I think Crank should have been a stand alone. If they have to have another they should get another lead and different story. Using the same crap they injected him with. Movie reminds me of how a Grand theft auto game movie should be. I wonder when that will ever be made?

Crank 2 has the funniest idea for a "plot" that I ever heard of.

Should be fun to watch. I don't think it's a bad choice really Crank wasn't exactly a serious action movie, it was pretty silly.

And I can bet almost anything that he will use the line "You stole my heart"

Doesn't Statham die at the end of Crank?

I bet what they'll do which is totally a cop out is have Statham do a monologue at the beginning of the first film...."My name is Chet Chelios...." and then have him explain that he never jumped out of the plane or helicotpr, but instead flew it and landed it safely....or something to that effect....basically showing us a flash back at the end of the first one and tie it to the beginning of this one....

All in all screw this movie....when the hell is the Brazillian Job going to come out?

Um....where does it say in the Variety article that Statham is IN The Game. It just says they're shooting back to back. Am I missing something?

I cannot wait for Crank 2. If the plot description were any more logical I would probably not be nearly as interested. But this I must see.
