Viva la TREK!!!

Greenwood Talks CAPTAIN PIKE Role - Nov 15, 2007 - 03:24pm
To James Cawley. Boo freaking who. Obviously, he doesn't understand that using the original design with today technology would look utterly ridiculous. That would be like doing a modern day movie using Fred Flintstones car. It can't be done and look good. Sorry, but I agree with the redesign and am OK with putting the old one out to pasture. The original design is in Smithsonian because of Treks contribution to TV/Film and genre in general. It wasn't placed into the Smithsonian because of the design of the ship. Gene Roddenberry was never married to the look of Trek but the concept of Trek. I would guarantee if Gene was alive today and was for the reboot he would not have a problem with a total redesign. Though I don't agree with changing "history" of Trek, the design of Trek needs to evolve with new technology to maintain any level of believability. In terms of Greenwood, I have been a fan of his since the show Nowhere Man. He is a great pick for the part of PIKE.

Academy to screen "Star Wars" - Mar 30, 2007 - 11:20am
Funny you should mention the original version on DVD. Everybody demanded it. It came out and nobody bought it. The "few" people that wanted it were very loud but evidently the minority.
