Marvel Comics begins their big summer crossover today, ORIGINAL SIN. They have launched a trailer on Marvel Entertainment to entice you to read it. I’m all for the big crossovers, hell I grew up on them. My thoughts are on this trailer (seen below). It may just be the worst one I have ever see. I hope the story is far better than the trailer.

Synopsis: Who Shot The Watcher? The Watcher, the mysterious space-god who's been watching us from the moon for as long as we can remember... is dead. Thus begins the greatest murder mystery in Marvel Comics history. As Nick Fury leads the heroes of the Marvel Universe in an investigation, other forces are marshaling as well and other questions are arising. Why is Black Panther gathering a secret team of his own, including Emma Frost, the Punisher and Dr. Strange? Who is the Unseen? What was the Original Sin? What was stolen from the Watcher's lair? And most importantly, who now holds the Marvel Universe's darkest secrets in the palm of their hand?

ORIGINAL SIN is available May 7th in comic shops, the Marvel Comics app (for iPhone®, iPad®, iPad Touch® & Android devices) and online in the Marvel Digital Comics Shop. Trailer Voice-Over by Jesse Falcon.

Ooooohhhh, the synopsis sounds so Ominous that the trailer comes off like a big pile of dog crap...

Meh.  I've given up on crossovers for a while.  After Civil War and Secret War, they've just been poorly written, poorly planned, poorly conceived attempts at superhero parties with EVERYONE invited.  AvX was beyond stupid, and that whole Asgardian hammers/Syn/godsmasher nonsense was just so convoluted and ridiculous that I am doing my best to pretend that it never happened.

I'll be skipping this one for sure.

No, I slightly disagree with you Cap.  I ACTUALLY enjoyed AvX.  Unfortunately everything since has been rather convoluted mess I can't make heads or tails of.

Original Sin, soooouunndsss like Marvel is raiding DC's Trinity/Pandora/Forever Evil offering.

These crossover extravaganzas don't really seem like such a big deal when they are annual and perfunctory.  I think the first annual "End of the Marvel Universe" mash up I bought was Inferno and the last was Onslaught.  Most of them were just an excuse to try and sell titles no one was buying (Excalibur anyone?).  I did buy all the trade paperbacks for Age of Apocalypse because that one was actually good, but most were a waste of time, and I expect a good chance of the same for Original Sin.

I also enjoyed AvX. Shogunn.  Interesting to see Scott become the villain, or at the least, the other side of the coin.  Showing my age here, but my all time favorite crossover remains The Infinity spans the entire Marvel Universe and stays relatively simplistic with a cool story and a great bad guy.

And who shot the Watcher?  I'm betting it was JR's secretary, Mary Crosby.

I liked AvX overall, but didn't like how many different tie-ins you had to get to really get the entire story.  Infinity was better in that regard.  Original Sin seems to follow that trend.  We've got the core book that looks like it will stand on its own and tell the story of the murder and investigation, while having an impact on the larger universe through the tie-ins showing the fallout of the many secrets revealed.  I'm looking forward to reading it, especially the fallout from the erasing of Cap's memories by the Illuminati.
