Only weeks after being linked to INDIANA JONES 4 by one of the Hollywood trade papers comes news Tom Stoppard is being courted by New Line Cinemas to translate Philip Pullman's HIS DARK MATERIALS into a multi-film script.
Pullman's books (THE GOLDEN COMPASS, THE SUBTLE KNIFE and the recently published THE AMBER SPYGLASS) centers on a parallel world where demons and other exotic creatures live with humans.
New Line is hoping to film "at least" two of the three books at the same time, in a similar fashion to their LORD OF THE RINGS triple movie shoot. Stoppard won an Oscar for his work on SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE.
