Sunday, as of late, have been lacking something. Shall we say, a little must see TV? With The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones off for the season, we are need of a serious Sunday night show. Will Guillermo del Toro’s The Strain be what the doctor order? We certainly hope so.

Synopsis: The Strain is a high concept thriller that tells the story of Dr. Ephraim Goodweather, the head of the Center for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City. He and his team are called upon to investigate a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism. As the strain spreads, Eph, his team, and an assembly of everyday New Yorkers, wage war for the fate of humanity itself.

The Strain arrives Sunday, July 13th, 2014.

Really looking forward to seeing how the characters from the books translate to screen.

I'm gonna check this out.  I'm wondering if it's gonna lean more toward horror than actual sci-fi.  Obviously it's a bit of both, but it seems like it's trying to focus a lot on horror and maybe not quite as much on the sci-fi aspect.  I don't normally get into sci-fi or horror series even though I'm a big horror movie fan.  Almost Human and American Horror Story being recent exceptions.

Also, anybody been watching Tyrant?  The pilot episode was great, but I haven't gotten around to watching #2 yet.  I'll probably put it on tonight when I get home from work.  And is Game of Thrones still On Demand?  I haven't watched the final two eps.

Love the books (the real books not the comics) so I wonder how much they stay true to the source. It was a trilogy so i could see this going  a few season if its succesful.
