Strange SUPERMAN rumors

Two new casting rumors about Brett Ratner's SUPERMAN movie have surfaced in the past 24 hours. Both bits of speculation remain unconfirmed but as per usual, have caught the imaginations of fans looking for any news about this hot superhero project.
The first rumor appeared during yesterday's broadcast of E! NEWS LIVE and suggested that Jerry O'Connell (KANGAROO JACK) may be soon turning into the Man of Steel. Apparently O'Connell has been absent from recent episodes of his TV series CROSSING JORDAN, which lead to the rumor that he's being courted to play the new Superman.
The second rumor originated at THE Z REVIEW and quotes anonymous source saying that THE WEST WING star Rob Lowe is up for the role of Superman's adversary Lex Luthor. Lowe is scheduled to star in a new TV version of Stephen King's SALEM'S LOT, to be filmed in Australia, so if he were to be cast the picture would have to begin shooting a few months from now.
As is the nature with all rumors, everything needs to be weighed carefully and not taken as the gospel...at least until Warner Bros. or one of the stars themselves decides to comment on the gossip.
