Strick to Pen NIGHTMARE Remake

There's nothing like hiring a veteran into the ways of New Line for the remake of the house that Freddy built. Warner Bros.' New Line Cinema has hired veteran screenwriter Wesley Strick to pen the relaunch of the A Nightmare on Elm Street series, says The Hollywood Reporter. The trade adds that the studio hopes to have the movie ready for the 25th anniversary of the original.

Plot Concept: The original "Nightmare" was written and directed by Wes Craven and released in 1984. The new project will keep the high school setting and delve deeper in the psychology of nightmares and Freddy Krueger himself.

I AGREE HANSO, FREDDY DOES NEED TO GO BACK TO BEING SCARY. I THOUGHT NEW NIGHTMARE WAS GOOD UNTIL THE END WHEN FREDDY'S MOUTH GOT BIG CAUSE HE WAS TRYING TO EAT THAT LITTLE BOY.

I was pretty skeptical when this was first announced but if they keep it serious and scary then I can be won over. Agree that Freddy is at his best when being damn scary and not a wiseacre. Though I did like Freddy VS Jason.

Isn't Michael Bay involved in this? Makes me think the "delve deeper into the psychology of nightmares" line is a crock but I will remain cautiously optimistic.

Well put FFT. It's become so commonplace in todays' Hollywood. Pretty soon we'll hear about a reboot of the Short-Circut franchise. It's a sad state of affairs.
