Strike team story authorized by Warner Bros.

Screenwriter Dave Callaham, who just finished writing the screenplay for DOOM, has sold a pitch for an action-thiller to Warner Bros. The untitled project is about a private team of security professionals/soldiers that are hired to go to a Middle Eastern country and help start a coup against the local government. But as the team executes its mission, the men on the squad begin to question their role in toppling a soverign state. The producers are Basil Iwanyk and Guymon Casady.

This is the third recent project for the movie studio that focuses on the growing tension in the Middle East. Matt Damon and George Clooney are set to star in SYRIANA, about CIA interest in Middle Eastern oil, and Brady Grey, Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston have the rights to make a film from the memoir penned by reporter Daniel Pearl wife, the slain journalist executed last year by terrorists.
