Alexander Updates on PUNISHER:WAR ZONE - Jan 29, 2008 - 04:23am
I agree with you madmaniac. I actaully enjoyed te first movie, but it was not the Punisher. Thomas Jane is a good actor, but he did not have that tough guy with a hint of crazy look or feel that fits the Punisher.
Stevenson is looking more like the traditional Punisher. Hpefully his acting and he script will get us where we need to be.
PRISON BREAK: Boxed In - Jan 17, 2008 - 02:33pm
I really like the show, but these gaps are making care less and less. Still, it was a good episode and I look forward to more.
On an unrelated note, what exactly is the issue with the strike? I know the writers feel that they are getting screwed on the back end (DVDs, etc), but don't they agree to work for a flat salary? I have worked for Unions and management and I know that as much as they both pretend to be saints, they usually have dirty hands. I usually give the union the benefit of the doubt since management in generally has a history of stepping on the worker.
One concern I have is that the studios put up all the money, so if a show or movie is a flop, they take the bath. The writers are going to get paid either way. If that is the case, the writers have no risk, but all the benefits and it is much harder for me to get behind them.
Am I missing something?
HD-DVD Backers Switching to Blu-Ray? - Jan 10, 2008 - 05:13pm
Sony obvioulsy lost the console war by including blu-ray. They tried to fight a war on two fronts: Blu-Ray v. HD-DVD and the PS3 v. Wii v. XBOX 360. Ironically, the PS3 is a much better blu-ray palyer than the PS2 was a DVD player, so it attracted the attention of many early blu-ray adopters. It helps in moving a lot (relatviely speaking) of blu-ray movies, but does not help with selling games. MS is killing Sony on the games attach rate.
It amazes me everytime I hear people say blu-ray is better because "it holds soooo much more!" Despite all that extra space, HD-DVDs consistently have better features. It is only now that blu-ray is getting picture in picture and web enabled features. HD-DVDs have the option (for better or worse) of the dual format releases as well as a slightly lower cost. I will actually be disappointed to see the "war" end. As long as there is a "war" waging, we as consumers get better deals and better quality in an attempt to one up the competition. Do you think the get "x" number of discs free would be around if their was one format? Possibly, but not likely.
I don't have a real slant one way or the other. I have PS3s and XBOX 360s as well as a roughly equal number of blu rays and HD-DVDs (over 50 each). Still, I am not blind to the benefits of one over the other.
