Premise: The comic, created by cartoonist Bill Everett in April 1939, centers on a young man who discovers he's actually a descendant from the long-lost kingdom of Atlantis. He turns out to be the key man in a brewing war between the underwater world and our own.

September 14, 2006 - According to Variety, Jonathan Mostow (Terminator 3) has signed with Universal Pictures to rewrite and direct Marvel Studios' SUB-MARINER.
Mostow has cleared his schedule in order to make SUB-MARINER his next film, David Self wrote an earlier draft of the screenplay for the studio.
June 14, 2004 - Variety reports that Chris Columbus, the man who directed the first two HARRY POTTER films, is being wooed by Universal to make the live-action SUB-MARINER movie. Based on Marvel Comics' superhero character, the Sub-Mariner is an aquatic prince of Atlantis named Namor. Throughout the years the hot-headed Namor has found himself both helping and harming mankind as his ocean world is threatened by pollution, invasion and war. The character has mostly turned up in the pages of FANTASTIC FOUR but has also appeared in several of his own series.
Universal has been developing a SUB-MARINER movie for several years now. The script is by David Self (ROAD TO PERDITION).
December 11, 2002 - Comics2Film relays Marvel Studios executive vice-president Kevin Feige's thoughts on the recently announced SUB-MARINER film project. David Self, who worked on ROAD TO PERDITION, is scripting.
"We're on track to get a script early next year and we couldn't be more excited," reports Feige.
