Ah '81 & '82 my tween years - good times, good times.

And  @Wiseguy I would "82 the nod, slightly, although Raiders is my all time favorite movie (still remember playing it on my Atari 2600 - damn tsetese flies)

Ha what a bunch of nerds we are. I still remember getting a colecovision for my birthday and returning it in exchange for an Atari 2600, the most awesome console at the time

Ah the summer of 81. Those were the good old days. First time my folks let me go out to the movies without adult supervision. Got to see a lot that summer. Superman 2, Clash of the Titans, Time Bandits and of course Raiders at least 5-6 times. Does anyone remember back then when it was cool to brag how many times you saw a movie? "I saw Raiders 5 times...well I saw it 7 times!"  With home video and internet today, there is none of that.

1982 was good too. E.T., Tron and Wrath of Khan. I still remember trying to sneak into Conan after buying E.T. tickets as it was rated R. So busted! Luckily I got to catch it on VHS not long after.

Superman II came out in 1980.

81: An American Werewolf in London, Blow Out, Clash of the Titans, Das Boot, Escape From New York, The Evil Dead, Excalibur, The Great Muppet Caper, Heavy Metal, The Howling, Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Road Warrior, Scanners, Stripes, Thief, Time Bandits

82: Blade Runner, Conan the Barbarian, The Dark Crystal, E.T., Fitzcarraldo, Pink Floyd The Wall, Poltergeist, Porky's, The Secret of NIMH, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Swamp Thing, The Thing, Tron

Both of them are amazing years for movies. I'm not sure which one I like more. Blade Runner is my favorite movie of all time, closely followed by The Thing, but it's hard to overlook that amazing lineup in 81 of The Evil Dead, Escape, American Werewolf, Raiders, Road Warrior, and Scanners. I mean, holy crap!

Ah '81,  I had just kicked kindergarten in the ass!  Now '82 was a good year as well, the Cardinals won the World Series in '82.

Living in a rural area at the time, I probably saw a lot of those movies 6 months to a year after they were out at a drive in.  In fact Raiders was one of the first movies I really remember seeing at the drive in.  I think maybe it was a double feature with Bambi, though that could have been another time.

1982 was a great year for movies.  1980 and 81 were also good.  But 1977 will always be the best (Star Wars, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, The Spy Who Loved Me).  They ushered in a new era of filmmaking.
