As a result of WGBS owner Morgan Edge going on-air to talk a little trash about Kryptonians and his alleged connection to them, Mon-El decides to go on something of a PR campaign by spreading his own brand of goodwill around the globe. He goes on a world tour, teaming up with local heroes in England, Japan, Africa, Mexico and all points in between. Back home, Guardian guests on Edge’s television show to restore the luster to Mon-El’s rep while John Henry Irons conducts a job interview.
The Good
I love it when we get to see weird, obscure superheroes from different countries. For one thing, it’s just plain fun and it also lets us know that the U.S. isn’t the only place in the entire world that has heroes. Plus, we got to see Robo-Octo-Ape, which is the greatest invention I’ve seen in quite some time, as well as appearances by Congorilla and the Rocket Reds.
The single-page action shots are balanced by smaller panels featuring Mon-El taking in some of the local beauty at each stop he makes. It’s sort of like Robinson is sending him on a “Superman crash course” where he learns how to be a hero as well as how to be a human.
The Bad
Morgan Edge’s reaction to the Guardian refuting his anti-Kryptonian statements was just a little too simple. “Oh, you say that Mon-El is an okay guy? Well… alright. I guess I’m dumb. Sorry.” Really? If only it was that easy to get the blowhards and political pundits of the real world to shut up. Just put on a costume, interrupt them on-air and state your case.
The Bottom Line

This particular issue gets a B- because I get excited about round-the-world adventures, Congorilla and Gentleman Ghost. I like the way Mon-El is being handled and I’m enjoying his acclimation to earth, but in regards to the series as a whole: I’m about this close to dropping the book and not picking up another issue until Superman comes back to earth.
Mon-El is confused about life on earth, General Lane plots evil plots and Guardian and Tellus have an ambiguous conversation. Sound familiar? I’ve just described every issue of Superman since Clark left the planet. I’m reading a slight variation of the exact same story over and over and it doesn’t feel like it’s really going anywhere. Of course I’m exaggerating, but it would be great if we could at least get a full fight scene rather than an abridged one or maybe something more than the slightest hint in regard to the plot.
Long story short: fun issue, bland series.
I couldn't take it any more and dropped the title. I mean, I am a HUGE LSH fan and even I don't care about Mon-El in this book. That's not good. I am happy to have the world of New Krypton thing going on, but this and Action are now just suckage.
