When Kevin Costner was enlisted into Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained earlier this week, it seemed that he would be appearing in two major genre productions for December of 2012. One would be the revenge western while the other was his previously-set role as Jonathan "Pa" Kent in Zack Snyder's Man of Steel. We spoke too soon on the latter. Warner Bros. Pictures has elected to push their next look into the Superman franchise back out of the 2012 line-up and into the summer 2013 scene with a new release debut on June 14, 2013.

The new date has no competition currently set aside for it and will be the second summer 2013 release for Warner Bros. Pictures ahead of Guillermo del Toro's monster movie Pacific Rim, which will invade theaters on July 12, 2013.

Snyder's Man of Steel will star Henry Cavill (Superman), Diane Lane (Martha Kent), Kevin Costner (Jonathan Kent), Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Michael Shannon (General Zod) and Antje Traue (Faora).

...maybe to see how the Avengers will do to see how a JLA movie might work and if they should start the tie-in's in the Superman film.

 damn it.  well i guess its better that it gets a summer release

Aaaaaaaaaaand I nominate Chopsaki's comment for Best Comment of the Thread.  Couldn't have said it any better.  Though I wonder why it's not opening on July 4th weekend that year - seems like a prime target for the holiday.  Has anything else been scheduled for that weekend yet?

They were afraid The Hobbit would destroy it. Plus they're doing some re-writes, which to no one's surprise wasn't reported here, by one of the writers of 300 since Goyer is unavailable due to his work on Godzilla

The first sign that something might be wrong with this film...{sighs}

 I hope the Nolan brother reign in Snyder a bit, we don't want a repeat of suckerpunch (a two hour video game!) After GL my faith in DC is at an all time low. & JLA movie dream all you want it ain't gonna happen for soooooooo long, I mean they haven't even managed to sort out a movie for, the flash, wonder woman, aquaman, martian manhunter etc so how the heck are they gonna handle all of them at once, hell they can't even handle a WW tv series, just my 2 cents anyway could be wrong... I hope I'm wrong

 I wish WB would sell DC comics to someone else.  They are horrible with thier properties.  In the review for Cap. America they wrote about his previous movies being awful well WB in the era of CG created such bile as  Catwoman, 3 horrible and 1 mediocre Batman and Robin movies, Superman Returns and Green Lantern,  I'll be glad to see Nolans version of the Batman end next summer as it has been a disappointment to me largely because WB decided not to include the larger DC universe in this trilogy.   At the same time the JLU cartoon which dare I say was perfect got horrible timeslots on CN and no replays and I have yet to see it anywhere.  I just don't get it.

 They pushed it back because it will suck. There I said it and feel sooo much better for it.
