I have an update for the upcoming movie SUPERMAN RETURNS. First off, reviews of the film have started popping up online following the first advanced screening, they are linked below.

Dark Horizons
Hollywood Elsewhere
Latino Review
Blue Tights
AICN

AICN's review is the only one that is partly negative.

In other SUPERMAN RETURNS news, Bryan Singer recently talked with Sci Fi Wire and had some interesting things to say regarding a few scenes he cut from the film.

Singer first talks about a scene in which Superman returns to Krypton, this scene was cut from the final reel which clocks just shy of 2h30m.

Singer also said the following, "I cut a [version of the] film that was about two hours and 45 minutes ... that I showed to friends and family," Singer said. "And watching with a group of people, we're watching the movie unfold, I felt that ... it was really interesting on its own and could deserve a life. [But] somewhere else. On DVD. Or, maybe, I think it should be on 3-D IMAX. ... It's very elegant, but, ... in the context of this moviewhere this movie needed to be and what it needed to be aboutI didn't feel it."

Well, I only looked at first two, but it seems they like it so far. I almost didn't want to look.

I am going to try very hard to be stay clear of the reviews. I want to be a blank slate for this. I do feel a certain fear when I hear that a director is already talking about what he's going to include on the DVD before the flick comes out though. It's as though they're attempting to compensate for the film's known shortcomings. Please be good.

The review on AICN seemed lukewarm at best, not a good sign.

I really, really, really want this to be a great film. I'll forgive the costume changes if Singer delivers a great movie. I read a couple of reviews and they all seem positive. I've been real worried about Bosworth's performance; I mean she looks like she's 16. How will she pull off Lois Lane? From what I've read in the reviews, she does a great job. I can't wait to see this. Looks like another long lunch the day day it comes out!

Can't wait to see Kevin Smith's review. Remember that great review he gave for Star Wars EP3 and what a dud it actually was? I can't wait to make up my own mind.

The previews have just been fantastic. There are wonderful visual graphics. The actors are there and everyone agrees that Brandon is Clark and Spacey is Lex, which is freaking great! I cannot wait until the 28th!

I won't read any of the reviews if I can help it, because they have never been important enough to me personally to make me want to see (or not want to see) a film. I make up my own mind.

Having said that, I wouldn't trust anything those fools at AICN say. If they say the sun is up, I will go check myself before believing them.

Out of the 6 reviews or so none of them gave a bad review. AICN gave it an ok NOT BAD but ok review. All of that is hardly a BAD sign Dragon261. 1 out of 6 aint to bad. I think the movie is going to be great. I think that shot on the trailer when Routh is running and is ripping his shirt to show the suit he looks exactly like the late great Reeves. Looking forward to this.

I'm avoiding reviews (I generally read them after seeing the movie), and I've always taken the AICN reviews with a pound of salt.

The previews look fantastic. I suspect the scene with Superman and the jet will be the most memorable effects sequence of the year.
