"Superman Returns" sequel looks to be a go

According to IESB.net, a sequel to Superman Returns is going to get a green light from Warner Bros.

The first film grossed $200 million at the domestic box office, but a giant budget diminished the film's profitability. The studio made it clear the budget had to come down for a sequel to become a reality and it appears an agreement has been met to cut the budget back into the $140-170 range (before marketing).

The first film's budget was well over $200 million and some reports had it much higher due to the years it spent in development hell.

I'm looking forward to this movie because it can only get better but I hope they won't use Zod as a villain again. The question is if Luthor and company are still on board? I recall that Spacey has a contract for more than one film. Hopefully his role won't be so silly again. Lets get a nice techno-suit for Lex and a superpowered villain for Supie!

Cool. I liked Supes Return. I do hope this one has a bit more action to it.

well my $8.50 is not in the $200 mill - I never saw the movie and from what I have been told it was not that good - Like #1 said luther was just plain silly in this and ther eshould have been other villians. Maybe they will gert it right in the next one - but i will wait for that DVD just like the first

When put next to I & II, this was a really well made movie. I can't wait to see where they go from here. There was so much hate generated by people, I still don't get it. Show me a new angle/wrinkle, I don't want to see the same things that I've read or watched before. I think that's why I enjoyed this one so much. It reminded me of the old, but took it to a new level. Sequal.. I'm there on opening night.

As I said on cinescape...this movie made $390 million dollars worldwide on a total budget of $260 million dollars. A sequel was bound to happen...and I want to see Supes duke it out with someone fist for fist (Bizarro or Zod).

Bleh... if I hadn't walked out of the theater where I went to see the first film, I'd still be there waiting for it to finish.

I’d think that Lobo would make a great super villain. He can go toe to toe with Sups and has the attitude to back it up.
