Superman Vs. Batman?

Or Batman Vs. Superman?

By Robert T. Trate     July 24, 2013
Source: Entertainment Weekly

With Comic Con almost a week old (preview night was last Wednesday) we are left with a ton of news to dissect and decipher. One that is particularly weird is the title of the Man of Steel sequel. Will the first on screen pairing of Superman and Batman be titled: Superman Vs. Batman or Batman Vs. Superman? I know, of all things to question.

Personally, I feel it should be called Superman Vs. Batman as this is a direct sequel to the Man of Steel. For another reason, we don’t even have a Batman cast yet. So it should definitely be called Superman Vs. Batman. Unless it turns out that the star cast in the role of the Dark Knight is bigger than Henry Cavill. Which is possible.

As of right now, Man of Steel screenwriter David S. Goyer claimed that these were the only two options. I guess “The World’s Finest” is out of the question. It probably wouldn’t be identifiable to the masses.

I Still think it's should be called World's Finest: Man of Steel 2 or something...

With The Lone Ranger looking to be the bomb of the year Armie Hammer might not want to put on a mask again for a while, but he would make a good Batman and unlike alot of contenders he could pull off Bruce Wayne too...

World's Finest would be my choice but Superman vs Batman or vice versa makes sense for the masses unfamiliar with the former title and help with the simple name recognition of the two icons. Plus the "vs" will help attract the few that may not be onboard yet

I think every comic geek wants World's Finest. I would modify it to Superman/Batman: World's Finest for the general audiences. Goyer knows comics so I'm sure he knows that but title selection may be out of his hands unless Nolan and Snyder back him up.

"Vs." makes me thing of a video game. I would expect one of them to be standing over the fallen body of the other and a booming voice yelling, "FINISH HIM!"

Maybe it'll be like King Kong vs. Godzilla and they edit a different ending on it depending on where it premieres.

Jon Hamm would be the ideal Batman. He looks exactly like Bruce Wayne. Plus a older more mature Bats is in order.

It should be called "World's Finest: Superman and Batman" and they should only call it "Superman vs Batman" if they'll be fighting one another but that's just me.

No Hamm on my Batman sandwich please! He is a fine actor but he probably is too old to start his own franchise and also do JL movies. There is no reason that Bat and Supe can't be the same age range.

An EW article is touting Ryan Gosling. I wouldn't pick him but if he got the role I wouldn't have any resistance. I would prefer a fresh new face to go along with fresh unwrapped Cavill.

I think thats what they are implying. That its gonna be a versus type movie.  I'm sure they won't go all DNR and have Bats kill superman in the end.  It will probably be the enemies in the beginning, then team up in the end for a combined threat.

Oh, and I vote for the "Worlds Finest: Superman/Batman"

I think both titles are awful.  It sounds like a Kaiju mash-up or bad horror film, not a superhero team-up.  Why not Superman-Batman: The World's Finest?  Or, given that visual media is the order fo the day, just do "World's Finest" with the distinctive logo already revealed.  People will figure it out, especially once the multi-billion dollar ad machine starts revving up and we get commercials, trailers, billboards, etc.

FOrget about  World's FInest, or Superman Vs. Batman.I think a better title would be Man of Steel: Dark Knight. What do you think?

They should go with World's Finest.  I hope this means that we won't have to sit through another Batman origin story though
