Super-Mann flick
By: Patrick SauriolDate: Monday, April 07, 2003
Director Michael Mann (THE INSIDER, HEAT) will helm TONIGHT, HE COMES for Artisan Pictures. The superhero-themed project was written by Vincent Ngo and will be produced by Akiva Goldsman, the writer behind BATMAN AND ROBIN and A BEAUTIFUL MIND. Ngo originally wrote the script six years ago and by the time Goldsman got involved with it last summer, he couldn't believe it hadn't been turned into a movie yet.
Mann's involvement is a major leap forward in the project's development. Little is known about the story except that it involves a fallen superhero who is befriended by a 12-year-old boy, and that the costumed hero falls for a surburban housewife. It sounds like it may be more in the vein of UNBREAKABLE rather than SUPERMAN.
Filming is scheduled to commence next year.
