Superman's Non-Lois Lane Female Lead

Three names in the ring for this undisclosed role

The next Superman movie continues to be one that moves in uncertain paths but ones that keeps you guessing and intrigued. When Christopher Nolan came on board as a producer it eased the minds of many after his run on Batman. When Zack Snyder was chosen as the director, it wasn't the first choice for many but gave a sign that they'll be bringing something potentially powerful to the screen based on his work with both 300 and Watchmen in terms of visual power, something that Superman most definitely needs. And the casting of Henry Cavill was something there has been hope for by some, but it wasn't a top name actor and that caused a few raised eyebrows, especially because of the British part. And now we're waiting on the curious casting of Lois Lane as well.

Well, throw one more log onto the fire as Variety is reporting that Snyder is looking for a female lead for the film and is looking along a short list of three people with Alice Eve, Diane Kruger and Rosamund Pike being the names bandied about. The role of the character has not been identified, which will send fans searching through lots of Superman books to see which blonde role she could be taking on. Alice Eve is most known for at this point for her role in She's Out Of Your League (a personal favorite) while Kruger has films like National Treasure, Troy and Inglourious Basterds to her credit. Rosamund Pike has a solid resume as well with the role that really got her noticed in the Bond flick Die Another Day but also for An Education.

The Variety report also notes that Snyder is still searching for the Superman villain actor, though like this female role, the character itself has not been identified yet.

Cat Grant?

That seems to be the popular consensus, but it's hard to say. I do like the idea of making it Chloe Sullivan just to mess with some fans though. :D

Rosemund Pike could be supermans blonde ball hair.

Im thinking its going to be a NOLAN MADE LOVE INTREST, or Lana Lang

Or maybe they're up for Lois Lane.  Hollywood developed this stuff that let's them change the color of a person's hair.  Nuts!

Wasn't it implied that writer David S. Goyer's inspiration for this film was from a Supes mimi-series about Clark Kent going on walkabout before he decides to become his alter ego? I can't remember the name of it. But if this is so, was their a female main character in that book that this mysterious blonde might be based on?

If not maybe its Lana Lang or mermaid Lori Lemaris or some other past Superman love.

Supergirl?  Too easy?

If this story is supposed to take place between his leaving Smallville and working for the Daily Planet, why not make it Lana Lang. I think that Synder and Nolan should use the Batman begins template, meaning don't put Lois Lane in the 1st film, and do NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES put Lex Luthor in the first film. Give Supes a different Love interest and Villian, and tease us with Lane and Luthor at the films conclusion. The best part about Batman Begins (And that is a near perfect Film) was the ending that shows Gordon tunring the playing card over with the Joker. That was the perfect set up for the Dark Knight!

Hah! :D I'll admit that I do like Chloe in Smallville, but wouldn't want to see her here. I'll just go back to dreaming about Alice Eve as Supergirl. :)
