Supernatural: And Then There Were None

Dropping like flies

Whoa, three significant kills in one single episode. Who saw that coming? Dean kills Gwen, Bobby kills his ol’ pal Rufus and Sam shoots a slug into his own grandfather. Suddenly there are a lot less peripheral characters on this show. The highlight for me was the glimpse of the relationship between Bobby and Rufus. It was interesting to imagine those two guys running around in their glory days doing the Sam and Dean thing. Poor Bobby’s gonna need some therapy.

Speaking of therapy, it stands to reason that Sam might need a little couch time as well. Grandpatricide would have to take its toll on the once more soulful Sam. A few things are for certain; Supernatural is still capable in both surprising the audience as well as pulling on our heartstrings. And oh yeah, Eve is a Muther.

Once Gwen and Grandpa ate it, I knew Rufus was next just from the title of the episode. I knew they weren't going to have the balls to kill Bobby too, but I was secretly hoping they would.

Now we know what Eve is up to, and the boys know what she looks like but not how to stop her. Maybe a little help from Cas' new heavenly arsenal will do the trick?

I dont know.. It was kinda weird. Grandpa Campbell dying.I didnt see that coming it totaly surprised me. iT WAS thrilling for sure but I didnt want him dead just yet. I mean I felt like he was going to play some bigger role later on.But the episode was good.

Looking forward to see more of Eve! She seems like a strong opponent, wonder how they will manage to kill her

Ah, another rip off episode.  That seems to be the theme this year.  What idea can we hack this season because we've run out of ideas.  No wait, I know a way people won't think of the Thing, we'll kill off Gramps and Rufus because no one will see that coming.  Yeah, that way we can call it our own.

I finally caught this last night.  Overall I would give it a B.  But I felt the deaths were kinda cheap.  No build up, Dean never got his pound of flesh from Gramps.  Plus they created a new monster just for the episode.  To me a bit of a cop-out.  Hoping this Eve line goes somewhere.

LocoLobo73 3/7/2011 12:23:05 PM

LOl , Bryzarro, isnt all death kinda cheap , I mean come on every show has to have this big build up to someone dying, but come on , I mean, what do  you want big theme music and what a drawn out monologue with Gun waving? One of my favorite scene of all times is in Raiders of the Lost , the Market with the swordsman and Indy just turns and fires, reholsters his weapon and walks away.

Dont Talk about it Just Shoot the A- Hole !!!!! thats the way it should be done.

Love where the show is going , also isnt the show suppose to be making up new monsters, other wise people would be screaming about them ripping off the Thing all the time, which by the way there are about a dozen other movies that would better fit the rip off comment then the comparison to the thing, but i get the whole electricty connection you were making.

Fail.  They wasted the Grandpa character.  And can they make the Eve character at least a bit more menacing or evil looking or something?  Back when they had Lilly, at least that little girl looked evil.  Eve looks like someone you want to bang.

Did like the possessed Bobby, that was cool.

Bryzarro 3/8/2011 7:27:22 AM

@LocoLobo - Well i'm not ranting that the whole thing was cheap. I just mean in terms of how this show has ever killed off secondary characters the two main ones Grandpa and Rufus were pretty quick and I guess didn't have any significance.  Nothing profound but Rufus and Bobby were the Lethal Weapon guys on the show the way they fed off each other and he gets a knift to the chest. Done!  And Papa Campbell, he skull f'd the brothers around and I was satisfied with a pop to the forehead......I just wished Dean could have done it!  And that he wouldn't be posessed!  Oh well

I mean when Jo and Ellen went out in a huge fireball, Bella got Hell Hounded, Hendrickson the FBI agent was killed off camera by Lilith.

I'm enjoying this season alot more since Sam got his soul back.  And i've had no problem with any of the episodes so far this season.  It's been a bit of a slow build but I am enjoying the season.

I really hope that they are building this up with an appearance by God in the finale; it seems to be the only logical way they can end the season.  Only God can end the war between the angels with any finality, and it seems that Eve is powerful enough that only by His hand can she be defeated.  Unless the show intends to go another season, don't see how else they can wrap everything up.

Bryzarro 3/8/2011 9:55:21 AM

@GreatOne - My guess is that it's going one more season.  I can't see how they can wrap up everything and be satisfied with the ending.  I mean they have only broght in Eve now.  So in the tone of how the season has shaped up I am game for one more.  If anything but to give it a proper send off.  Inculding the return of God.

GreatOne 3/8/2011 10:26:07 AM

@Bryzarro - How many more episdoes are left - 7?  I agree that introducing Eve right now is late in the game, and that it appears they're cramming a lot into the season (although doing a good job of it).  Also hope they go at least a couple of more seasons; show doesn't appear to be running out of steam.  Can't see as how they could end the series with a "happy ever after" scenario, like they appeared to be giving Dean.  Death personally reaping them and walking off with God and Cass into Heaven seems to be the only way to truly close it out.
