Fifteen years after leaving the airwaves, Tales from the Crypt is set to return to the small screen. Deadline reports that "Eureka" co-creator Andrew Cosby is developing a new take on the classic EC comic adventure, and that the plan is to center the storyline arcs around the characters from the comic rather than the anthology version we remembered from the HBO series.
"It will be an ongoing series that uses characters from the comic books in a more modern context," Cosby said. "It's all about continually elevating the genre, for both existing fans of the source material and mainstream audiences."
Producers will start shopping this new "Crypt" series to both broadcast networks and cable channels. If both of those fall through, there's also been talk about full financing the production in-house and then selling it to potential television providers.
