Columbia Pictures and Ghost House Pictures have signed Amber Tamblyn to star in THE GRUDGE 2. She joins a cast that already includes Arielle Kebbel and Teresa Palmer.

Tamblyn will play the younger sister of Sarah Michelle Gellar, who returns long enough to pass on the movie's supernatural curse. The sequel delves into the secrets behind the grudge's wrath and introduces a seemingly unrelated host of new characters who find themselves connected by the curse.

Takashi Shimizu will direct from a script by Stephen Susco. Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and Taka Ichise will produce. Mandate Pictures' Joe Drake & Nathan Kahane and Vertigo Entertainment's Roy Lee & Doug Davison will executive produce.

eh... I donno... at least The Grudge didn't really have a happy ending. This might work, but overall I gave the original Grudge a C+... we'll see... I'm sure I'll see it, my wife loved the 1st film.

The first movie had some fairly creepy parts but I am not holding out much hope for #2. Is this going to be a straight to DVD release or will it be a theatrical release? Whichever way it is will show what the movie is going to be like.
Even if it is crap I will end up watching it, I am not that hypocritical, just not paying 12 bucks to do so.

The Grudge succeeded as a popcorn muncher, a film that holds no real merit unless you see it in a packed grindhouse with an audience that I like to refer to as "screamers." I know it had me jolting to it's scares (no matter how impressive or cheap they were) so if Grudge 2 at least accomplishes what the first did then it'll be all right. But it wouldn't hurt turn out if this flick goes above and beyond our medicore expectations.

if you really want to make a really good scary asian hybrid, at least make them rated "R" as they were intented to be like back in Asia. Put a stop to this PG-13 horror crap and start making horror films "R" like they used too.

I thought The Grudge was very boring and was about a 2 out of 10 on the horror scale. I agree with post #4...enough with these asian horror remakes; they just aren't scary.
