TAO Jones

There are some gamers who believe the fighting genre is heading in exactly the wrong direction that developers are content making games that require very little thought and that play like most other games on the market. Luckily for these gamers, one of the creators of MORTAL KOMBAT has decided to answer the call.

"What we did with TAO FENG is really take advantage of the graphic capabilities of the Xbox," says game project leader John Tobias of Studio Gigante. "I think our characters are composed of many more polygons than is typical of your average fighting game. And the incredible detail we were able to show with the damage inflicted on characters like bruising, cutting, cloth tearing and all those sorts of things we were able to do this because we weren't really limited by having to convert the game over to other platforms."

TAO FENG takes place in an alternate universe in which the Chinese have populated the western coast of the United States, which is now called New China. The storyline centers around two warring clans from ancient China, the Pale Lotus (good guys) and the Black Mantis (bad guys).
