Less than a month after Patty Jenkins parted ways from the helm of Thor 2, Marvel Studios has found the one the man they want in charge of bringing the superhero back to theaters in November 2013. Deadline is reporting that the studio has signed director Alan Taylor to tackle the sequel.

Some of his credits include the well-known HBO series "Oz," "The Sopranos," "Boardwalk Empire" and "Game of Thrones." The director will be charged with leading confirmed returning stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman and Tom Hiddleston. Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige will be producing and screenwriter Don Payne has been charged with fleshing out the scripted adventure once again.

Producer Feige has already described the sequel's story by saying "We're going to take Thor literally to other worlds -It will primarily be the journey of that character, of he and Jane Foster and how the new dynamic with his father is working out, as well as what are the broader stakes for The Nine Worlds."

Thor 2 arrives in theaters November 15, 2013.

Well if that's not an impressive resume I don't know what is.

Indeed. I could have gone further with credits from "Mad Men," "Rome," "Deadwood," "Carnivale" and "Homicide: Life on the Streets". I was initially just going to call him a TV director but seeing the shows he has directed stopped me short from that...Seems capable enough.. He does have a few "Sex and the City" episodes under his belt but nobody's perfect. :)

And everyone have a great (and safe) holiday. Best wishes to you and your loved ones.

I don't watch the show as it has never interested me, but do no count Sex in the City ep's as a mark against him.

Seeing as how well the show has done, and watching my mother and sisters get all giddy over the show, I don't think Sex and the City is a mark against him, yet another plus to him helming Thor.

He has done many television shows that people enjoy, and yet caters to the mainly female crowd with Sex and the City, I don't think that's a bad thing as he seems capabable of reaching many audience crowds.

Men, women, teens, etc.

I could easily be wrong. I just know SitC is a pretty big deal still, even though it's not going on anymore....at least to the ladies.

I just hope Marvel makes a good film, a really good film, and loosen up their grip slightly to let these directors have some freedom. I mean you hire these guys partly for their vision so why handcuff them so much.
