Taylor for Terminator?

Thor 2 director eyes Terminator

By Robert T. Trate     September 06, 2013
Source: Variety

Variety had an exclusive story that Thor: The Dark World and Game of Thrones director Alan Taylor is talks to helm a Terminator film.

“Sources tell Variety that Taylor is in talks to direct the rebooted “Terminator” film for Skydance Productions, Paramount and Annapurna Pictures. All the studios and reps had no comment on the news”.

The odd part of the story is that this would not be a continuation of the Terminator franchise but a “stand alone” story. There was no news if Arnold Schwarzenegger would be attached to this project. Though Arnold has said he will be back.

It seems like a step in the right direction. Thor: The Dark World really is Taylor's trial under fire for a big cinematic release.

THOR: THE DARK WORLD (in Digital 3D and RealD) arrives November 8, 2013.

I'll be back... I hope that they would include Arnold. It would feel right. Can Summer Glau make an apperence?

Bring in the whole TTSCC cast. That show was awesome. Infact why not make a Season 3 in movie version.. Now there's a idea.  Arnold can come in and do some work as a behind the scenes type of character.

they should write all their best ideas down on a piece of paper and save it in a 3-ring binder that they could store on a shelf in the room of a house in some town somewhere in an English speaking country.

How many "reboots" is this now?

thezillaman 9/6/2013 12:30:41 PM

it still has great potential for a bad ass movie again ..

To quote another famous franchise, "I got a bad feeling about this..."  Really don't see a draw for a film like this.  I guess we'll see...

Stand Alone Story?  A day at the beach with the Terminator?  Terminator goes to Disneyland?

I'd rather go with more stories during the war. No more of this time traveling terminators to the real world nonsense. Let's see a Terminator War.

Why not just take off from Salvation?  Recast the sucker of course, but Salvation doesn't have to be addressed.  It HAD planned sequels, but the story was rather contained.  It didn't end on a cliffhanger like the Empire Strikes Back.  Marcus is dead, John is alive.  They left Marcus' corpse under a bush and moved on with their lives. It's war after all.  Moved it ahead a couple of years.

Maybe John has to rebuild the resistance.  Now he's the leader.  There you go, we have stories and a mostly fresh pallette.

Wasn't Cameron doing the script for this?

If it is a Cameron story... almost doesn't make any difference who the director is.  That is if he/she can read.

I never got into the Sarah Connor Chronicles.  I tried to after it got canceled, but Netflix took it down off of streaming after I got like two or three episodes in.  I heard it was pretty good and I liked what little I saw of it.
