Mark Millar Wants SUPERMAN Trilogy - Sep 02, 2008 - 06:26pm
Just want to add that clearly not everyone disliked SR. I do wish things weren't portrayed as such.
And as I said before, will WB decide to reboot again if this one doesn't work?
WB Decides to Reboot Darker SUPERMAN - Aug 25, 2008 - 06:09pm
In response to the criticism about giving Supes a son, did anyone even fathom the ramifications of Superman having someone other than himself on Earth as powerful as he is? I don't mean some villain from another universe or crazy monster or Zod.
Think about it. Clark would hope that his son would grow up and develop the same sense of right and wrong or obligation to bettering the world that he was raised with and ultimately took on. That doesn't necessarily mean he has to wear a costume like his dad. But put it into the context of today's society. Kids not much younger than some of us today are growing up with a whole different sense of entitlement and expectations. Imagine Jason growing up well aware of his abilities and what they can do for him? Imagine he deciding than rather use them for selfless means, he uses them for his own? The arrogance grows, the feeling that he is invincible grows. His actions grow from being petty and non threatening to criminal and dangerous. Someone mentioned Supes being put into a situation where he feels he has no choice but to take a life. Imagine his son becoming so far gone that the only decision Supes has is to "destroy" him?
And I absolutely disagree with the idea that the fantasy nature of DC can't translate to the big screen. What needs to be kept in mind is how these things can affect the heroes in our world and how it affects us normal people. How do these special things about these individuals go hand and hand with real world, regular people problems?
WB Decides to Reboot Darker SUPERMAN - Aug 22, 2008 - 07:32pm
I am with jarrod. I don't see why they need have every movie dark to make it a success.
And for the life of me I cannot fathom how Supes/Clark having a son would affect any future movies. Can someone explain this argument to me?
SUPERMAN Flying Circles in Development Hell - Aug 19, 2008 - 10:15pm
I just wonder where does it end with the rebooting? And if someone else's idea of a rebooted franchise doesn't work, are we calling for another reboot?
And I am gonna be honest. I agree there wasn't much action in SR. But it wasn't that bad. Just make a more action packed movie the next time around. What's so hard about getting this done?
Preview for NBC's Third Season of HEROES - Aug 14, 2008 - 10:13am
Very temtping. But I refuse to read those spoilers, lol^^^.
I've seen this preview before and it looks like things are kicked up a few notches. I don't recall being this excited for a season premiere since Buffy.
Brett Ratner Overseeing Horror Remake MOTHER'S DAY - Aug 13, 2008 - 02:31pm
Gotta third on GoW. Even the story alone is enough to keep you wanting to play.
As for this remake, never seen the original. However, that poster for the original is f@ckin creepy.
Okay, just watched some of the sneak peek and the mother is creepy as well, lol. I am gonna go check this out
The 5 Best and 5 Worst Movie Breaches of Comic Book Canon - Aug 13, 2008 - 02:25pm
I agree hanso. Just figured I'd play a little devil's advocate. But I do agree with the worst breaches of canon. Especially X3. Cyclops is not my ultimate fave. But his importance to the X-Men has always been made clear throught whatever medium and that was just crappy timing and a slap to the face. If it had to happen, at least do it at the end of the movie or in the middle and have him go out fighting. It was silly
The 5 Best and 5 Worst Movie Breaches of Comic Book Canon - Aug 13, 2008 - 07:54am
I'm not a regular comic book reader by any stretch of the imagination. And I hope I don't step on any toes. But how can we possibly judge violation of comic book canon in movies when comics themselves continuously seem to be guilty of this as well? So there's room for changes and different interpretations in the comics, but not when translated to movie or TV?
Sony Grabs Screenwriters for FLASH GORDON - Aug 09, 2008 - 08:36am
I admit every time Flash Gordon is on, I watch. It's as cheesy as a movie can get. But I feel it embraces the cheese and I think that's why its so enjoyable
TV Wasteland: Heroes Cast Getting Larger - Aug 04, 2008 - 05:09pm
Well, that's the great thing about opinions. We all have them and are entitled to them.
I was actually watching season 1 with my friend the other day and it was the episode "Six Months Ago" were Papa Petrelli dies and I said to myself, what are the chances that somehow, someone (be it Nathan, Mama Petrelli or someone else) faked his death to avoid him being prosecuted with Linderman?
And this is great casting by the way!!!
Mania Exclusive Interview: Terminator: Salvation Director McG - Aug 01, 2008 - 02:32pm
Wow.
The guy says all the right things, clearly is acknowledging (in few words or less) his ass as a director is on the line if this bombs. And he still can't catch a break? We resort to complaining about the guys name?
I am no McG fanboy. But I did like both CA movies. Never seen We Are Marshall.
I do love this franchise and I am on the side of optimism until more info comes out and it looks like he's screwed it up.
HARRY POTTER 6 Trailer Online - Jul 30, 2008 - 05:33am
I believe she was asked a question about at an event about whether Dumbledore was ever in love with anyone and she answered it honestly. It doesn't make a difference really. She still has that encyclopedia of the series that will probably go into more details of the characters.
As for the movie, I am excited. I can't wait to see how Slughorn looks like, unless its already been spoiled on the net somewhere
SDCC: Batman: The Brave and the Bold Panel - Jul 27, 2008 - 10:47am
Of course TAS is the gold standard. But I was a little put off in the beginning of The Batman because it was so different, but that's the point. If I wanted the same, I'd just watch TAS. Its a really great series and it was a treat to see what the next crazy new interpretation of the Rogue Gallery would be. I love their version of the Riddler.
This new series I heard about months ago. I will check it out. If its good, I will watch it. If not, then I probably will still catch an episode here and there.
But yes, there is room for all interpretations of Batman
McG Updates Blog for TERMINATOR - Jul 22, 2008 - 07:39pm
I am excited. I really hope McG's enthusiasm about this is genuine and serves this trilogy well. I think the fact he is getting input from CB and others is good sign. I love the Terminator franchise, the mythos of this great saga as well. It really rewards its fans, IMO (T3 included) for being invested. So I hope this is good
Box Office Update: KNIGHT Captures Box Office History for WB - Jul 22, 2008 - 07:29pm
*Maybe Potential Spoilers*
Well, 130 odd some post in and I guess I will share my two cents.
I saw it Sunday afternoon.
I loved it. Was definitely the best movie I've seen this year. One of the best in a long time at the theatre.
While it still isn't my fave Batman movie, its right up there in general and will be on regular rotation in my DVD (HOPEFULLY BLUERAY) player by the time its released on DVD.
Heath Ledger was as good as advertised. Not once did you think HL as the Joker. He was The Joker. And as much as I know some want to place this performance over Jack's, I felt he was able to channel some of that version of the Joker in some scenes. It was just flat out great.
Jim Gordon in this movie was awesome. I am glad they allowed Gary Oldman to shine because he kind of felt tacked on BB. In TDK, he was right up there with the other leads.
As has been mentioned before, the role of Rachel Dawes just was a bad one. I thought Maggie Gyllenhaal would bring life to the role. Honestly, she and Katie Holmes could have been interchangeable IMO. Nothing against both actresses (both good). The role just sucked.
The Bat-Pod was awesome!
And let me just say this, I hope Harvey "Two Face" Dent isn't dead. I didn't see his eyes open. I hope he isn't cause while I have liked Aaron Eckhart from other roles, he played his best role as Harvey. I absolutely believed his performance as someone who desperately wanted to clean up Gotham. It really was my favorite performance of the movie. Hands down. I think HL should get a nomination for his performance. But AE shouldn't be overlooked as well. In fact, most of the major players should be recognized some how. This movie should. Its an absolutely wonderfully made movie from top to bottom.
Gotham Knight Ranks High - Jul 18, 2008 - 02:15pm
Rented it on itunes the other day and it was absolutely kick ass. Will be my next purchase soon!!
And The New T-800 TERMINATOR Is...? - Jul 18, 2008 - 01:50pm
So what he is saying and this is how I am taking this, is that he is Arnold's T-800 model 20 years before Skynet sends him back to kill Sarah Connor?
THE DARK KNIGHT: The Joker's Wild! - Jul 18, 2008 - 06:00am
I just don't like when some come on these sites and spew their opinions as absolutely right. Sure, its right to you. But it won't be to others and no matter what the majority might say, it just isn't that way. So if Joe Schmoe thinks Burton's Batman movies are the better ones, then that's how he sees it and its his opinion. Its not for me or anyone else to tell them its right or wrong. If Jane Doe thinks BB and TDK are the better movies, then that's her opinion and no one can tell them they are right or wrong. I will see the movie this weekend cause as a Batman fan, I am excited to see it. And why does anyone who enjoys Burton's movies have to be considered a "casual fan." Now we are being snobs about Batman?
Personally my fave Batman films rank as such:
Batman
BR
BB
BF
Sure it will probably change after this weekend, but I say lets enjoy and have fun with our differences in opinions rather than trying to prove something.
First Teaser Trailer for TERMINATOR SALVATION - Jul 16, 2008 - 09:49pm
Along with the buzz about HL performance, I didn't think one person's extreme excitement can infect another. hanso, I can't help but be pumped for TDK this weekend after all your hilarious post. I can't wait to see it. I love the old franchise (sans B&R), but I am ready to finally move on and just look forward.
As for T4, I admit to being a Terminator fanboy. I love the series and yes, I make no bones (no pun intended) about loving the seeming universally disliked T3. That teaser has got me pumped as well. I will acknowledge that their is a chance I maybe extremely disappointed with this movie (and the rest of the trilogy). Yet, I am gonna go in with all the optimism in the world.
And even if this movie is any where as good as any of the first three, it would be nice if James Cameron were brought back to, if not direct one of the next two, at least be involved as producer. I know the franchise may have veered off a bit from his original vision. But it would just be nice to have him back in the fold. I am sure he would have some great ideas to contribute
Top Maniacal News: Gort Destruction, Mummy Mum and Iron Holmes - Jul 12, 2008 - 02:27pm
I must say that I am shocked, at least with the criticism on A3. I've only seen the first two, but remember back in the day everyone loving the third movie and then thinking Resurrection was okay.
Box Office: HANCOCK Flies into July 4th Victory - Jul 07, 2008 - 05:26pm
To touch on as many points as I can:
I can certainly say I'm not one of those AA that "hoots and hollers", lol
I absolutely enjoyed Hancock and agree that if a a bit longer, it would have been fantastic. So if there is a sequel, hopefully it touches a bit more on the origins of some of the characters.
I saw a convo about the Tumbler. I must say that while I do prefer the more streamlined Batmobile (I just feel it makes for a more inconspicuous Bats), I think the Tumbler is pretty sweet and would make for a great side vehicle in the long run.
As for the hype surrounding BB and TDK, I admittedly thought Begins was a bit overrated. A good movie, but not that great. However, I am honestly stoked for TDK. So much so, I was scoping out Joker action figures at Target the other day. (And hanso, I think you were the one who mention how shitake they look. I agree, lol) If the trailers and spots are accurate, the movie kicks the intensity of Begins up 1000%. I am gonna try and be there the first night.
HANCOCK: Superman III 1/2? - Jul 04, 2008 - 10:00pm
I a little late to the party. But I just went to see Hancock and I must say I had a great time. I thought it was pretty cool. Of course, you always think somethings could have been better. My only complaint was that I wish it were a bit longer to tell more of the story between Hancock and Mary's characters. I hate to mention or think of sequels this early, but I think with the same cast, a great storyline and script and probably more action, there could be a possible new franchise in the making.
Bale Will Bail if Robin Shows in KNIGHT Sequel - Jul 03, 2008 - 02:37pm
"The Robin from The Animated Series was good, they should do that"
I agree hanso. And the one form Teen Titans is pretty good as well.
Predator, I would like to see Nightwing as oppose to Robin as well. Not cause I dislike Robin, but because I always liked his costume alot better. Plus, he's always been pretty badass IMO. I just think it would confuse some if we were to go from no Robin to Nightwing all of a sudden with no real explanation.
Millar Will Deliver New Pitch for SUPERMAN - Jul 03, 2008 - 02:25pm
I see no need for another reboot, remake, reimagining or whatever they want to disguise it as. Sure, SR had its issues. But it was a good start for a character that had not been in cinema for almost 20 years. Just learn from the mistakes of Supes Returns, listen to what fans thought was wrong and make a better sequel.
And I didn't think it was that bad that they gave him a son. It did make sense in the continuity of the movies. It does go against what we know in regards to what the comics have stated. But as long as every movie there after isn't a father/son flick, I have no problem with this little liberty taken on the source material. I mean, if I wanted exactly the comic, I'd read the comic
Director Yates Talks Intro of HALF BLOOD PRINCE - Jul 03, 2008 - 01:41pm
"Dobby, Bill...Fleur....These omissions from the movies has me wondering about future scenes in the Deathly Hallows"
JarrodSarafin, that was my concern too. Without giving anything away, the omissions of Dobby in the previous movies are gonna leave alot of people who haven't read the books confused and cheated when they see the last movie
I also wish they kept Bill more involved in the movies seeing as his role in the books gets more interesting, especially in book 6th.
I also hope Fenrir Greyback is introduced in the movie. Such a sick character
Bale Will Bail if Robin Shows in KNIGHT Sequel - Jul 03, 2008 - 01:33pm
I assume Bale is kidding.
But why write off an appearance by Robin? Just because Joel Schumacher mucked chit up in the last set of movies? I keep hearing the character Robin has sucked in movie form. WTF? The characters only been in 2 movies. And flame me now, but I did like BF and Chris O'Donnell did well with the role. I do agree its a bit to early seeing as this trilogy is supposed to be the early days of Batman. But if folks have all this faith in Chris Nolan to do Batman justice (and from someone who has held alot of resentment towards the reboot, he has) why not have faith in him to put out a great portrayal of Robin?
Maniac Gives Early Praise to Luhrmann's AUSTRALIA - Jul 02, 2008 - 12:56pm
I read the article the cast and Baz Luhrman did with Vogue and it made me want to see this movie and I had no clue it existed. I like epics. Hope the story is there. If not, i'll enjoy the visuals
First SOLACE Trailer Online Now - Jun 30, 2008 - 09:24pm
While not a big Bond fan, Casino Royale is one movie period I can pop in and just watch anytime. Its that great wolfman. I am really looking forward to this one.
Mark Millar Still Loves SUPERMAN - Jun 30, 2008 - 06:45pm
I don't think SR was toxic.
Slow and prodding at times? Yes.
But that was a gross overstatement
Scribes Haas & Brandt Pen Fantasy ALL CREATURES - Jun 27, 2008 - 10:44am
Sounds interesting and that it could be pretty cool. But I get the sense someone's imagination will run too wild and it'll be f'd up
Update: Four New TV Spots for DARK KNIGHT - Jun 24, 2008 - 08:41pm
For someone who was not a fan of the reboot starting with BB, I must say I am getting more and more excited to see this movie. Love the Joker and it really looks like Ledger pwns this role.
Book Buzz: Puttin’ the Folk Back in Hellboy - Jun 17, 2008 - 04:58pm
I by accident began watching the first Hellboy on cable (one of the movie channels or something) and loved it. It was just a fun, well done movie. And I know I am gonna catch this one in theatres and will probably check out some of the prints just as well.
DVD Details for HEROES Season 2 - Jun 16, 2008 - 05:03pm
I guess I am in the minority with almost in that I enjoyed Season 2. I will concede that somethings started off a bit too slow and they tried to do alot. But for the most part, I enjoyed it.
And like joey pointed, its hard to really judge the season when it was only really half a one. But I enjoyed what we got. I just gotta catch up on the graphic novels
First Look at the New Jason VOORHEES - Jun 14, 2008 - 08:26am
Well I am not gonna complain, lol
But I will express my confusion on the point of this movie.
Everyone involved is giving their own take on what purpose this movie serves. So its not a sequel? But its a re-imagining? So why not start from the very beginning then? Will this be like a SR in which they are starting off from the end of the first or second one? I mean, what is the point of this remake?
McG Updates Blog for TERMINATOR - Jun 05, 2008 - 08:08pm
I don't recall them saying they are forgoing T3 for this movie. Your right Hobbs, the claim was the TV series would. But I just don't see how if the show continues from T2 and they aren't going to retcon T3 out of the series, which I don't see why they should. It was darn good movie IMO with a great story and ending
John Moore Remaking CAPRICORN ONE - Jun 05, 2008 - 07:55pm
I thought it was Jackie Chan too, lol
Guess I should have read the caption
TRANSFORMERS 2 Has a New Title & Set Details - Jun 05, 2008 - 06:34pm
vampire, thank you for perhaps the funniest comment i've read on any site today. And I mean that with all due respect and no ill will
Bryce Howard Taking Over in TERMINATOR Trilogy - Jun 02, 2008 - 11:30am
Man, T3 can't catch a break. I still thought it was a pretty good movie. Liked Claire Danes and the character, but its not really a deal breaker one way or the other if she is in it or not. As for this connecting to the Sarah Connor Chronicles, I am still confused as to the intent of the show as far as the Terminator canon goes. Originally, I thought it was a bridge between the T2 and 3. Then when it began airing, there was talk that T3 wouldn't even be recognized as far as the show goes. But TS is clearly following the movie canon if Kate is in it. So color me confused as to how its all gonna fit together.
Top Seven Reasons Hardcore Gamers Don't Matter Anymore - May 27, 2008 - 01:39pm
This article is so FOS and generalizations. But I will keep my comments to that simply because I tire of arguing this idea that hardcore games and gamers don't matter.
MGM Planning New ROBOCOP & RED DAWN? - May 19, 2008 - 06:46pm
BlatchSkree, its funny that you mention the scene when Murphy gets shot because I am gonna be honest, I think I was traumatized as a kid as well. I still have a hard time watching it to this day.
But with that said, I love RoboCop. 2 is okay. But 3 is B&R bad. I would love to see a reboot from the end of the second one on or at least from the 1st one.
As for Red Dawn, heard alot about the movie. But have yet to see it
5 Almost-Great Sci-Fi Films Worth a Second Look - May 16, 2008 - 03:02pm
Can't really say I recall seeing any of these movies, unless I did and just don't recall them by name. But thanks for pointing these out. As much as I like sci-fi blockbusters, I do get a kick out of movies that most would ever dare admit to watching. Sometimes for a laugh, sometimes cause I actually enjoy the movie. Can anyone tell me where can I find these movies? Is it as simple as your local Blockbuster? Netflix?
Columbia Gets GOOSEBUMPS - May 15, 2008 - 08:44pm
Favorite book was Night of the Living Dummy. Favorite episode of the series was the Haunted Mask.
HEROES Season Three Promo - May 10, 2008 - 06:21pm
I cannot wait. And I too would love to see a feature film.
Boxleitner Headed to HEROES - May 08, 2008 - 01:29pm
My initial thought was a resurrected or in flashbacks Arthur Petrelli
But then it says sharing scenes with a female series regular and I don't know if Cristine Rose (Angela Petrelli) is a series regular or recurring. It could mean Hayden Panettiere seeing as she would be Arthur's granddaughter
Whatever it is, next fall can't come soon enough. I miss this show
Common Joins Freedom Fighters in TERMINATOR - May 07, 2008 - 05:51pm
capt, love the sn. But you do realize OJ Simpson was almost cast as the Terminator in the original movie?
So I don't think it would be that much of a stretch to see a black terminator.
By the way, I always see you referencing Kimbo Slice hanso, so I finally decided to look this guy up. Dude looks scary. I so see why you would pick him to play a terminator.
IRON MAN - May 06, 2008 - 10:07am
I'll just say the reviewer had an opinion of the movie and they stated it. So it is what it is. No sense in bashing or making their opinion seem wrong.
But with that said, I have yet to see the movie. But judging by everyone's reaction, I might just stop by the cinema after work today and take a peek. I love Robert Downey Jr. and I love superhero movies. So it looks like this is a winning combination
DEATHLY Hallows Has a Release Date - Apr 25, 2008 - 09:00pm
No, Dumbledore's orientation had no relevance to the story
And I thought she was asked a question about DD love life and she gave the answer?
New Poster for Norton's HULK - Apr 16, 2008 - 01:42pm
To nrollins:
I absolutely apologize if I came off as snarky and condescending. It was not my intention and I did not mean to imply you or anyone don't have the patience or intellect to figure out the site. I am normally not like that nor do I usually overreact to internet comments on criticism. I once again apologize.
Hey mlaforcer
Yes, that is how I look like, lol. Actually, that photo was taken after my dad's wedding. If you believe it or not, 420 is my birthday. So there you go. As for Boston, pretty sweet as always. Now that the Sox are back in business and the weather is getting warmer, all is not too bad these days
New Poster for Norton's HULK - Apr 15, 2008 - 01:34pm
Sorry for the double post^^^
And the poster is pretty sweet by the way. Hope this movie isn't held up by all of the alleged disagreements on the final cut. I did not care too much for the last Hulk, although I won't say it was a bad movie. I just didn't like it
New Poster for Norton's HULK - Apr 15, 2008 - 01:32pm
I like to do my fair share of complaining at times. But shouldn't these concerns be addressed someplace appropriate, not in the comments section of the Hulk poster?
And I find the site pretty easy to navigate. I guess I just choose to take the time to learn the new features and such...

Universal Gives FAST Plot Concept - Apr 15, 2008 - 01:25pm
On one hand, I am not shocked this franchise is continuing.
On another, I am a bit shocked they got the cast from the first one back. Never really cared for the movies. But this must be good news for those who do like this franchise
Supernatural's Padalecki Leads FRIDAY Remake - Mar 23, 2008 - 11:45am
Count me out.
And I am not gonna get negative and say that these remakes are gonna suck. I did think the Texas Chainsaw remakes were pretty good. I wasnt a teen when Freddy and Jason were in their hey day (more like a small child) but I think if given the chance, youngins today could enjoy them just as much as I did.
TERMINATOR Loses the Salvation Title - Mar 13, 2008 - 05:38pm
I liked T-3. And while I concede it wasn't as great as the first two, it was a pretty good movie. And while I am never one to question anyone's opinion, I just have to ask what exactly was everyone's issue with the movie?
DEATHLY HALLOWS Split into Two Films - Mar 13, 2008 - 02:25pm
I am sure that money came up in discussions. But what if this was truly a response to fans who thought the last two movies were really butchered?
And apparently. J.K was asked if this was ok and she said yes. What if she said no? You think WB would have gone through with it anyways?
DEATHLY HALLOWS Split into Two Films - Mar 12, 2008 - 08:25pm
Its about time, and whether its about money or not, I could care less. I am sure WB is quite aware of that fortunate side affect and why shouldn't they be excited? I do agree with COLLECTOR that this should have been done with OotP. That movie seriously should have been split. Maybe even GoF as well.
On where should the split should occur. I say after chapter 17 in the book, Bathilda's Secret. Something happens towards the end of that chapter that I think would be the perfect ending to part 1. I won't say what it is so as not to spoil it for anyone who has not and doesn't plan on reading the book.
RANT: Have You Ever Had a Friend... - Jan 21, 2008 - 11:11am
I guess I understand where your coming from. I've had that feeling more with the media and groups of people gushing over something. I didn't care too much for Pokemon back in the day during the whole fan frenzy. My cousin and friends had the games and watched the show. Didn't really like it. Played Pokemon Red for a few minutes and was hooked. Same for Harry Potter. I wasn't planning on reading the books and thought the books weren't worth all the hype. Book 4 came out during the summer before my freshman year of college. My younger cousin got all the books as gift and I decided to try them out. Best decision I've ever made. Some of the best books I have ever read.
BOND 22 Begins Filming Thursday - Dec 31, 2007 - 10:29am
I thought Brosnan was a pretty good Bond. And I did like Die Another Day. However, I really, really enjoyed Casino Royale and think Daniel Craig has done a real good job in capturing the spirit of Bond
Arnold Returning to TERMINATOR SALVATION Trilogy - Dec 31, 2007 - 10:27am
Love this franchise and I am excited to see this trilogy getting the go ahead. I really hope these movies aren't screwed up
Tyler Perry Heads to STAR TREK - Dec 31, 2007 - 10:15am
I'm glad some posters here on have an insight on the taste of Tyler Perry's audience.
Just to let you know that I am Tyler Perry fan, yet I do enjoy and probably will go to see ST. So just because you went and saw a ST film and no black people were in the audience doesn't equate to black people not enjoying ST.
And isn't it entirely possible that J.J Abrams thinks Tyler Perry is a pretty good actor and wants him in the film?
Columbus Short Rejects JLA Role - Oct 30, 2007 - 05:47pm
So I guess Colombus thinks he's the next Denzel?
And I too want to know what he means by that?
But he isn't obligated to take it. Just sounds a bit arrogant for someone who's biggest movie to date is Stomp the Yard.
HEROES: Fight or Flight - Oct 24, 2007 - 04:58pm
Episode was pretty good. I too really like the Monica/New Orleans storyline. Doesn't have to be political IMO. For many in situations like that, the first thing on their mind isn't politics, but a way out of their situation.
And to be fair in response to previous poster, the show picked up four months later. I am quite sure once we get to the episode explaining the missing four months, we will get an explanation on alot of things.
And I disagree that Heroes doesn't show shades of grey and just paints a world of black and white. I think in its defense, Heroes runs the gammit. You have Peter, Hiro and Claire who I think personify the goodness of the human heart and then you have Sylar who is just clearly psychotic and murderous, all the things we strive not to be. In the middle, you have people like Niki/Jessica, the old guard who clearly did something they thought was for the greater good, but we are beginning to see the consequences of their actions.
Mark Millar to Pitch SUPERMAN Sequel - Oct 23, 2007 - 12:13pm
I think thats pretty crappy for anyone who did enjoy SR that they feel the need to start from scratch. Chances are that others will find something wrong with a "reboot" of a "reboot". I mean, just make BETTER SEQUEL!!! What happens when this "restart" doesn't work? You gonna restart again?
HD IRON MAN Trailer Online Now - Sep 10, 2007 - 10:49pm
Don't know much about Iron Man either. But I like RDJ and comic books in general. He seems to pull off what I've heard Tony Stark is supposed to be like, so I am defitnetly in line to see this next summer and will probably take a look at some IM stories until then. Any suggestions anyone?
A JOUST Movie in Development - Sep 04, 2007 - 01:39pm
Wow, this is just silly. Unless the concept is completely reimagined. I mean, I liked Joust. But I think this is silly
Teaser Poster for SAW IV - Jun 12, 2007 - 03:15pm
Don't pass on Saw III Captmathman. Not the element of suprise like the first one, but as far as story and acting goes, just as good.
THE SOPRANOS: Made in America - Jun 11, 2007 - 05:39pm
I absolutely never watched an episode of the Sopranos before, although I did keep up witht he show through online recaps and such. But I did watch the finale to see if all the predictions would come true and actually thought it was a pretty sweet way to end the show
Celebrities in Excess - Jun 02, 2007 - 02:26pm
Its so easy to blame us fans. But I also blame the people around these idiots. Unfortunately, too many people have a vested interest in Lindsay and Paris being out and about and will refuse to tell them any better just to keep the money coming in. Sad what fame not only does to the celebrities, but to their parents and the people around them that supposedly care for them
Heroes: How to Stop an Exploding Man - May 23, 2007 - 01:03pm
I too wish the finale had been an hour longer. Otherwise, I loved it.
I totallt agree with what Merin and others have said about the lack of "big battle" and when you actually look at Peter's character, its just not the route he would go in. As Charles said earlier, Peter has unconditional love going for him. Doesn't mean he won't fight if he its absolutely necessary. But I think its a last resort measure for him
As for Nathan, I was pretty impressed that he finally made the sacrifice and go out on the limb for Peter that he'd been refusing to do since day 1. I think the more important issues to ponder is what is the fate of both Petrelli Brothers? And what were the moments like between Ntahan and Mama Petrelli when the decision was made? Was she livid or did she hope that in the end, Nathan would make this decision?
I was also intrigued by the fact that Charles was clearly in with the elder group as well. What was his place in this all, as well Mama Petrelli and Hiro's dad? (Who I also believe is the hero Takezo Kensai as well.)
And the last 3 minutes were pretty sweet and glad that our apetites have been wet for next season and that this summer, we will still have some Heroes content to hold us over.
My Mondays are gonna be pretty stale though this summer.
HEROES: The Hard Part - May 10, 2007 - 12:33pm
I found your mommy assessment quite hilarious mbeckham1, lol
Also thought it was a great episode. And to the poster who mentioned about what Mama Petrelli's power could be, I know I read somewhere in which Kring said her power is the same as someone else's on the show, but she's much faster in using hers. I have been speculating that maybe she is a time and space bender like Hiro, but she can control her abilities without much effort unlike Hiro
More TERMINATORS in the Future - May 10, 2007 - 11:49am
I absolutely enjoyed T3. Not as good as T2. But I don't really expect sequels to amass the original. As much as I would like to see a 4th that addresses the war, I am not too sure about another trilogy.
THE JETSONS in Rodriguez's Future? - May 09, 2007 - 01:33pm
I enjoyed the first Flintstones movie. Not sure how they can translate the Jetsons to the big screen and make it make sense. I am too interested in the Land of the Lost movie as well.
"Harry Potter" International Trailer Online - Apr 23, 2007 - 03:47pm
This absolutely looks amazing. OotP is probably my second favorite after HBP. I was disappointed in Goblet (the movie), but only for some crucial things that I think should have been left in (specifically the indepth look in Neville's backstory).
This just looks like a full out assault on the senses and I can't wait.
And to mlaforcer, I just don't see how you can simply call them kids books. Book 1 compared to Book 6 is mild, but there still stuff in it that I would question whether a kid should be reading.
Halle Berry says no to "Justice League of America" - Apr 16, 2007 - 10:28pm
Oh GMAB on the difference on whether Catwoman is black or white. She's dressed in a cat costume for god sakes. I'll take a Puerto Rican Robin over some pretty white boy any day if the writing and actor captures the spirit of the character.
Shia LaBeouf joins 'Indiana Jones 4' - Apr 16, 2007 - 10:22pm
Finally and I think he'll do a good job. Would love to see Disturbia soon and saw the Greatest Game Ever Played and actually enjoyed it. Can't wait to see Indy 4
New "Fantastic Four" Poster - Apr 10, 2007 - 04:07pm
Thought the first one was pretty cool. Can't wait to see this one
Sony cuts price of the PSP - Apr 04, 2007 - 05:50pm
As for why so many people adore the DS and have criticism for the PSP, I think it harkens to the fact that the PSP is marketed to the folks who already own the PS2 and since the PSP graphic wise is a handheld PS2, why shell out another $200 for the same product? Granted, it does a host of other things. But I think the fact that people at the heart of it want a game machine for games and Sony has dropped the ball in some respect for support with the PSP. And plus Nintendo has done a great job in coming out with very innovative, interactive games that it IMO makes up for the lack of features the DS has comapred to the PSP. Personally, I plan on owning both in the near future. So it isn;t one or the other with me
Sarah Michelle Gellar joins "The Dark Knight"? - Mar 30, 2007 - 04:43pm
Well, not only was I fan of SMG in Buffy. But I go way back to her All My Children days. Girl can act when given the opportunity and has proven she can knock it out the park and would love to see her in a more serious movie such as Batman.
Jason Lee joins "Alvin and the Chipmunks" - Mar 08, 2007 - 04:03pm
I highly doubt a five year old will be upset about his intelligence being insulted by Alvin and the Chipmunks. I mean seriously, your average kid will get a chuckle out of seeing talking chipmunks singing and dancing all over the place or at least the kids I know.
As far as the other movies, I have really only seen the first Garfield and actually really enjoyed it. So much that I recieved it as a gift two Christmases ago and enjoy it every now and then.
As for the Chipmunks, I am game. I grew up with the cartoon and want to see what they do with it.
"Cabin Fever 2" gets a cast - Mar 05, 2007 - 03:49pm
I was quite honestly surprised with Cabin Fever and had wrote it off initially as crap before seeing it. I like to watch movies for what they are and it was exactly what it was, a gory for gory sake cornball horror movie. I hope the second is as good or even better than the first
"Heroes" getting major changes? - Mar 02, 2007 - 06:29pm
I doubt this is a result of not thinking they would go past a first season. In fact, Kring has said that the first 5 years of the show were planned out. Although that might not mean a thing and that could be thrown out the window for this idea, which I think sounds really cool. Hopefully, my faves are ones that survive this "Volume"
Aaron Eckhart talks "The Dark Knight" - Feb 28, 2007 - 07:36pm
Well, I didn't think BB was all that myself. It was good. But it wasn't what I expected. But I will be looking forward to seeing The Dark Knight.
And sue me, but I thought Tommy Lee Jones did a respectable job as Two-Face
"Heroes: Company Man" - Feb 28, 2007 - 07:32pm
Not much more I can add. Probably the best hour of tv I've ever experienced. Personally, this beats Buffy's death, which was a high point for me. All I gotta say is Claire was kick ass with her Wolverine'esque skin peeling and the charred look. Keep up the good work PTB
James Cameron finds Jesus? - Feb 26, 2007 - 05:02pm
As someone who has never been religious and likes to question the very idea of religion and worshipping some invisible man in the sky, I say bring it on James!!
Rob Zombie shows off Michael Myers - Feb 26, 2007 - 04:57pm
I trust RZ to do a great job with this. Loved both House and Devil's. I do wish that it wasn't just a remake, but an actual continuation of the series. While I don't disagree or dislike remakes, I think they can be copouts sometime.
J.J. Abrams will direct "Star Trek" - Feb 25, 2007 - 12:56pm
Funny thing is, almost everyone complaining over a movie that hasn't even started production yet will probably go see it anyways, lol
"Heroes: Unexpected" - Feb 22, 2007 - 06:20pm
First, I wanna say great episode all around. Even the Hiro/Ando stuff was pretty good. It dragged. But the bullet scene was pretty cool. And I agree with clickhere in that it was different with Hiro's power during that scene. If it is possible for him to now focus on one part of reality while the rest of time remains the same, it will make for some interesting developments later.
And Peter was absolutely kick ass in the ep and while I can understand some concerns about him becoming too powerful, I think how he handles it and more importantly, how his powers handle him will be the real story. Simone being shot was a shock to say the least.
And the Claire/HRG confrontation was absolutely phenomenal. I can't waitfor next week and the "hostage crisis."
"Ghost Rider" - Feb 19, 2007 - 10:09pm
^^^actually, its called difference in taste and opinion :)
LOST/Heroes: A Commentary - Feb 15, 2007 - 05:20pm
And take it for what its worth. But apparently, last nights Lost hit an all time ratings low for a new episode.
LOST/Heroes: A Commentary - Feb 15, 2007 - 05:18pm
To CalamityJohnson^^^, weak minded? I think as a viewer solely of Heroes, I do feel invested and feel that it makes me wonder and ask questions as well. And I think just as its unfair to judge a show thats only on episode 13 to a show in season 3, its unfair to use one lame plot point to try and point out how bad a show is.
And to DexPac, you say Heroes seems stuck and episodes seem more like filler to get to the shocking twist. I disagree. I think just about every moment of an episode fits into the overall mystery surrounding the SG's and how they are all connected. Some moments are more obvious than others. Some are more subtle. And judging by what I hear about Lost, I don't see the difference really. IMO, it seems judging by the criticism Lost has been nothing but one big show of fillers with shocking moments here and there. Again, I don't watch the show. So maybe my opinion isn't valid.
LOST/Heroes: A Commentary - Feb 14, 2007 - 01:20am
Well, I guess its good I don't watch Lost and I don't need to worry about the comparisons. Nothing against the show. Just never got into it. But maybe I will once its over and all seasons are eventually out on DVD
"Star Wars" 30th Anniversary DVD in the works - Feb 11, 2007 - 02:30pm
If George Lucas needing more money is such a problem, common sense tells you not to buy any of it.
As for me, I am not as big a SW fan as everyone else. But I enjoy the movies, and I will wait till a box set with all six movies are released
Anna Nicole Smith dead at 39 - Feb 08, 2007 - 10:06pm
Wow, how insensitive can some of you be?
She was a character no doubt. But this just a tragic end to someone who seemed like a genuine person under all the media mess and scrutiny
R.I.P Anna Nicole
"Gremlins 3" is Direct to Video? - Feb 08, 2007 - 04:53pm
I guess the poster who commented on Jeff Cohen didn't see his Where are they now segment on VH1. Homeboy's lost the weight.
And I say no to them all. All are classics in my eyes. Even Gremlins 2.
Last book is Rowling's Favorite - Feb 08, 2007 - 03:40pm
TKay, I think Harry will die as well and I also speculated that he was one of the Horcruxes.
Just want to add that clearly not everyone disliked SR. I do wish things weren't portrayed as such. And as I said before, will WB decide to reboot again if this one doesn't work?
