why isnt paramount bringing anything to comic con? how stupid...out of sight out of mind!

Gary Mitchell is a character from the original TV series, originally appearing in ‘Where No Man Has Gone Before,’ an episode crafted as the second pilot for the show, and aired as the third episode. Mitchell is an old friend of Kirk’s, and an Enterprise crew member, who is granted powerful telepathic and telekinetic powers. Things don’t end well, with Mitchell and Kirk engaging in a deadly showdown.
Mitchell’s name has been mentioned in conjunction with this sequel, more than once. The first time was in this statement:
It’s definitely a character that will make fans of TOS excited. Think along the lines of Harry Mudd or Trelane or Gary Mitchell or the Talosians or the Horta. Actually it’s one of those that I named.
The second time was when Trek 2 producer and co-writer Roberto Orci said that Mitchell is one of five characters that are definitely not in the film.
So did Urban really mess up and give away the bad guy’s ID, or is this another piece of misdirection? We’re not likely to find out at Comic Con, as Paramount isn’t bringing movies to the event this year. And with Trek 2 not set for release until May 2013, we might have to wait a good while before getting any confirmation about the character.

they've been filming for a while now, not having something to show at comic con is a mistake I think, don't really care who BC is playing cuz he's aweome anyway. Show us something!
oooooops... i agree with every one here so far, they needed to have something at Comic Con, anything just something.. still i have high hopes for S.T.2 and the story sounds good.
Oh nuts. I was hoping it wasn't Kahn (some roles can only be equalled and I doubt anyone could top the performance in the second movie) but Gary Mitchell leads to a far closer to Star Trek: The Search for god scenerio than I am comfortable with. Yes I enjoyed the reboot but this news has me less than enthused.
Have faith, Betenoire...some people may not like J.J.'s take on the franchise, but at least he ain't SHATNER...Love the man, but he's the one who directed "The Search For God" as you refer to it. I think J.J. is able to stay away from sing-a-longs.
I don't believe they NEED to have something at COmicCon.
In the old days, some novies would come out as surprises and it was fun and interesting. Now, by the time a movie comes out, we know everything about it, it sucks.
I'd rather get a surprise and see a movie I know nothing about then have all the details in advance.
Can't wait for this
@ Kaziklu - NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't care if they have anything at Comic Con. I'm not going to Comic Con. I agree with jedibanner, I want to be surprised and have a sense of wonder when watching a movie. I think that is what was missing from Amazing Spider-Man that made it not wholly click with me. Great movie, but it didn't feel special.
Doesn't sound like a bad idea. Who did they cast as Dr. Dehner?
