Another Potter Spin Off?

Warner Bros. trademarks another spinoff

By Robert T. Trate     September 30, 2013

Warner Brothers has already announced that there will be a Harry Potter prequel in the works. That project is based on JK Rowling’s “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”. That book/ film will feature the adventures of Newt Scamander (read the news here). Now it seems that Warner Brothers is trademarking other Potter references and books as well. Does this mean another film?

The book within the book, in question, is “Tales Of Beedle The Bard”. Plus there is also the mini-book “Quidditch Through The Ages.” The second book is “written by” Kennilworthy Whisp. Would he become the lead character then? It look as if they have trademarked  the Quidditch teams: Wimbourne Wasps, Chudley Cannons, Kenmare Kestrels.

I can’t say that Warner Brothers is beating a dead horse, because in no way was Harry Potter at the end of its life. Do you want more Potter Universe stories? Sound off below!

Time to let it go. Most of the original actors have said they wouldn't come back, not many interest in those new characters.

For me Harry was the least interesting aspect of this world that Rowling created, so I actually think this mythology still has some legs...

Eh, I don't have much enthusiam for either of these projects or others that may possibly come along.  But then again, I may not be enough of a fan of the Harry Potter movies to be part of the target audience, I suppose.  I don't mind people expounding upon an established world (I'm really really rather pleased with the expanded Hobbit movies), but I thought the only HP movies that really got it right were the first 2 and the last 2...still, 50/50 isn't bad for any franchise, I guess.  Okay, I'm rambling...I'll check these out on DVD.

I don't really care either way if this gets made or not.  Beadle the Bard is the most intriguing to me.  I'd probably give any of them a shot, though.

On a semi, unrelated note, I think it would be cool if in about 15 years or so the HP gang got back together to shoot the epilogue scene for a special edition bonus or something like that.

They need to pick up on the Harry Potter story when he’s in his 40’s and a hardboiled private detective. In fact the story should look something like this:

“Harry Potter is a working-class magician, occult detective, and disgraced former auror stationed in London. He is known for his endless cynicism, deadpan snarking, ruthless cunning, and constant chain smoking. A roguish counterculture antihero, Potter is also a passionate humanist driven by a heartfelt desire to do some good in his life.”

DarkXid - I would be down for that, but ONLY if they make a lackluster movie about it which makes him American and played by Keanu Reeves.

Didnt they already do that? and named it Dylan Dog?

raynardmuldrake 9/30/2013 2:58:57 PM

Or was it Constantine...i forget

When its mining the Star Wars universe Trate is cool with it, when its the Potter universe then WB might be beating a dead horse.  Alrighty then.
