Atari Games announced a third video game based on TERMINATOR 3: RISE OF THE MACHINES. However, next to nothing is known about the premise of TERMINATOR 3: REDEMPTION except that the game will allow gamers to play "in a larger and more diverse Terminator world" and once again in the mechanical footsteps of Arnold Schwarzenegger's Terminator character. Vehicular and character-based combat will be presented in a third-person format.
"TERMINATOR 3: REDEMPTION will give gamers an opportunity to experience the world of Terminator like never before -- they will go places and do things that have only been hinted at in the films," said Jim Galis, executive producer of Atari's Paradigm Entertainment studio. "The TERMINATOR movies have become known for their incredible chase scenes and total destruction -- in TERMINATOR 3: REDEMPTION we're going to recreate that moment-by-moment intensity with incredible action-driving only the TERMINATOR license can provide."
Atari has already released TERMINATOR 3: RISE OF THE MACHINES, a game that follows the storyline in the T3 movie. Another game, WAR OF THE MACHINES, will be available in December for PC systems only.
TERMINATOR 3: REDEMPTION is being developed for the PlayStation 2, Xbox and Gamecube platforms. The game is scheduled for release in the summer of 2004.
