The Terminator reboot has begun photography! Paramount has released an official statement on the new production featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Emilia Clarke. Expect a lot of news to come out of Hollywood on Arnie’s return to his most iconic role.

Press Release: Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions announced today that principal photography is officially underway on the Terminator reboot, directed by Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World). The film is shooting in New Orleans.

The new film is written by Laeta Kalogridis (Avatar; Battle Angel) and Patrick Lussier (Drive Angry). David Ellison and Dana Goldberg (World War Z) of Skydance Productions are producing. Executive producers are Skydance's Paul Schwake (Star Trek Into Darkness), Annapurna Pictures' Megan Ellison (American Hustle), Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier.

Terminator stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Clarke, Emilia Clarke, Jai Courtney, J.K. Simmons, Dayo Okeniyi, and Byung-hun Lee.

The Terminator franchise launched in 1984 with Arnold Schwarzenegger as the title character and spanned three subsequent films, which have earned more than $1 billion at the worldwide box office.

Paramount will distribute the film worldwide on July 1, 2015.

So wait, it's a reboot now?  So they're trying to actually start over with the entire franchise?  I was under the impression this was just gonna be yet another installment, especially with Arnie being in it.  I don't understand how you reboot a movie franchise with some of the same actors from the originial series.  I feel like that would be like "rebooting" Spider-Man with Toby McGuire and Kirsten Dunst.  Though I guess I can understand it if they're basically trying to pretend that Salvation never even happened.  But if that's the case then do just that, and let Salvation just hang out there twisting in the wind by itself.  I still wish they would just make the damn future machine war movie that they teased so much in the first two movies.  I mean, that's what everyone really wants and has wanted for thirty years.

Wait!  What about Battle Angel?  Is that even going to happen anymore?  Its been like 10 years since the last time something was said about it.

I would exchange  any Terminator reboot for an Battle Angel movie.   Thats how it is!

You would be the only one redslayer.

Salvation was the future machine war movie and it failed.

I strongly suspect it's not really a re-boot, but rather an alternate reality Terminator that ties into the original series of films. And rumor has it that he's playing an older terminator (one where his organic exterior  has aged) either sent back too far into the past or he's a leftover terminator wondering the dystopian wastelands of Earth decades past the final human-skynet wars.

Curious to see how it unfolds, but only if it's one of the two above scenarios.

Ah ha... Accrding to Screenrant and Arnie himself, T5 or Genesis is in fact about a T-800 who's skin has aged and has been wondering for over 30 to 50 years.

Jason Clarke looks more like Cheif O Brien on DS9 than  Chrstian Bale . Why are even doing another sequel is money , Arnie needs a hit , after movies like The Last Stand , He is getting desparate , He should had stayed in movies instead of the power trip as Mayor when He was still a bit younger . If anything He should go with a Conan film , Terminator series been used way too much .

Aren't they making another Conan movie with Arnie?  Didn't Mania report that a few months back?

I REALLY don't see the point of this Terminator reboot.  The while thing looks like a train wreck to me.  I suppose if you had to absolutely recast Sarah Connor, Emilia Clarke is a good choice, but again, what's the point?

Another Terminator movie...snoooooze

Endless remakes, reboots, sequels....Terminator, Jurassic Park, Expendables, Spiderman, Superman, Batman, Thor, Ironman, X-Men, Captain America....even stinkin Peter Pan...borrrrrring

Can't Hollywood give us something / anything, new, different, and semi original ?

I get it...movies costs 100's of millions...it's too damn risky to try something new...keep recycling the same stuff over and over and over again....they'll keep coming (well not me)

Just finished watching the latest episodes of Continuum and Orphan Black...On Demand. Smart, thought provoking shows. Television is so much better than the Movies nowadays.

Maybe I'll catch Terminator on a premium channel (whenever) if I hear From someone I trust, that it's great.

Yes! Yes! And I know just the right plot! Schwarzenegger goes back into the past to convince himself to never get into politics, gets run over by Michael Biehn, and the 9/11 never happens. Then some Michael Bay explosions, and when Sarah Connor is about to get killed, the movie ends like Skyline! Now there's a movie I would definitely...
...who am I kidding? Another Terminator? This time around, a reboot? With Daenerys Stormborn playing the part Cersei played on the TV show? Maybe we should get Jamie to play Michael Biehn, and Helena Bonham-Carter to play Johnny Depp! Who cares, all they want is to make money anyway!
