Terminator: Salavation director McG says he intends to dedicate his film to the late Stan Winston, whose team created the T-800 Terminator in the classic 1984 original. He spoke to reporters during an unveiling of new footage from the film this past Wednesday in Los Angeles.
After talking to James Cameron about the proposed Part IV in the franchise, McG, "felt I needed to go a step further and get the creator of the machine, Stan Winston. He's a legend in our industry… we talked and he started getting excited about it. We started talking about creating a T-600 and I told him I really wanted to build it. I wanted it to look like a Russian tank: something mean and nasty, and of that dirty future. Sort of the [H.R.] Giger fatigue that you see in the Alien pictures. Sadly, Stan passed during the making of this movie and it's my intention to dedicate this film to his memory. He's provided so much for all of us as film fans."
In addition, McG promised that a new trailer containing new footage for Terminator: Salvation will play in front of Watchmen this March (as if fans need another reason to queue up for Watchmen). Terminator: Salvation is slated to open Memorial Day weekend.
