That's A Wrap for DRAGONBALL

Actress Emmy Rossum has once again updated her Myspace, letting the fans know that director James Wong has finished principal photography on Dragonball, an adaptation of the famous anime for 20th Century Fox. In the film, she's starring alongside Justin Chatwin, James Marsters, Jamie Chung, Eriko Tamura, Joon Park, Chow Yun-Fat, Texas Battle, Randall Duk Kim and Ernie Hudson.

The actress had this to say.

I've been so busy in Mexico finishing up Dragonball but we just wrapped yesterday so I JUST got home and this is my first opportunity in front of my computer to write to you. It's been nuts for about a month and a half working nights (on a schedule of about 5pm-8am) outside, but our spirits have been high and it was such a blast. I've missed writing to you but I've been exhausted after coming home from work early in the morning. I'm finally home (at least for a few weeks) and it's a mixture of happy and sad. Wrapping a movie is kind of like the end of school, you miss all your friends that you've bonded with so much but you are eager for a little rest and a break from all the hard work. I'll be starting work on something else in 3 weeks so I wont have much time to rest...

Dragonball will hit theaters April 3, 2009.

so if i got this right goku goes to high school, has a friend named teto. there's a bully named carey fuller, there will be no oolong and puar. king piccolo is now lord piccolo, but still looks like a namekian and mai is his chief enforcer and a shapeshifter. erine hudson is an acolyte in a temple(a version of kami?) who helps goku and bulma helps goku after her dads dragonball is stolen by lord piccolo.
WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT THE FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I honestly don't know what to say about this. I like Dragonball, but probably not as much as some fans. I'm not even sure how u approach a live action version of this. I'm just waiting for a trailer, to see what it's like. I think they should've gotten the Wachowski brothers because atleast they're fans of, and they understand anime.

Actually how much of this movie will be live action... There's going to have to be a crap load of cgi for this movie to work.

Azul, I think somebody's been switching the keys on your keyboard around. You're not making any sense.
As for this movie... I don't know. I'm going to have to say that I'm going to be walking into the theatre, if I decide to see it, taking on the role of "Average Joe." I don't know anything about this series. For once I can give an opinion on a movie from a total non-fan stand point. I figure that there's going to be a LOT of CGI work since they just wrapped up the principal photography and are planning on a release of one year from now. All that time in post-production usually means that they need to finish the film on the computer.
But from what I've read here, I am interested in the project. Be waiting for a trailer.

trailer? hell I'd settle for some photos of the actors in character!

What's up with all the nighttime filming and an entire year for cgi work? I would like to see a trailer to get an idea of the look of ther film but with a year to go that's going to be a while.
captm0rgan77 I'll see this with your same perspective cause I don't like most anime and don't really know much about this series since whenever it came on I made a dash for the remote. Still could be a cool movie although my guts say otherwise.

captm0rgan77 if i'm not making sense to you it's because you don't know anything about the anime as you said.
let me point out the major flaw with this movie, goku NEVER went to school he is a complete and total innocent and the most naive being in the universe. when we first meet goku he doesn't know about the birds and the bees, he doesn't even know the difference between boys and girls, he doesn't even know what a girl is. how can he maintain that level of innocence and naiveness if he goes to high school? he can't cause that would just be retarded and not even the masses of sheep would buy into that(i think). so much of gokus character is derived from his innocence and naiveness, it is also a source of much comedy throughout the series.

I am not an anime fan, I pretty much don't get it and never liked Dragonball. My little brother and sister think this stuff is cool, but that is because he is fifteen years younger than me and didn't grow up with real cartoons like He-Man and GI Joe. To me Dragonball has always been lame. Sounds like they have a good cast for the movie, but it will probably bomb in the US, but might do well in Japan, but that is about it.

AzulTaLon, you know this material better than I but I think captm0rgan was referring to your school statement having nothing to do with the article. I think your confusing what she said about wrapping up the movie with the actual movie.
