ALMOST HUMAN: Official Trailer

The latest on JJ's TV Cop Show

By Robert T. Trate     May 13, 2013
Source: Fox Broadcasting

Fox has released the official first trailer for J.J. Abrams' produced TV series Almost Human. Despite it being on Fox, insert cancelation jokes here, it is still an Abrams' produced property and anything with his name attached to it will get air time. Karl Urban is another factor here. He is quickly becoming a fanboy favorite. His Judge Dredd performance was hailed by both critics and fanboys. His portrayal of Bones, in Star Trek, has also elevated his status with the average moviegoer. Let’s hope this seres can survive the insanity of being on Fox.

The Plot: This action-packed police drama set 35 years in the future centers around the unlikely partnership between a part-machine cop and a part-human robot. Executive-produced by Emmy Award winner J.J. Abrams ("Fringe," "Lost," the "Star Trek" and "Mission: Impossible" franchises) and creator J.H. Wyman ("Fringe," "The Mexican") and starring Karl Urban ("Star Trek"), Michael Ealy ("Sleeper Cell," "Common Law") and Emmy Award nominee Lili Taylor ("Six Feet Under,"), ALMOST HUMAN is a high-tech, high-stakes action drama set 35 years in the future, when police officers are partnered with highly evolved human-like androids. An unlikely partnership is forged when a part-machine cop (Urban) is forced to pair with a part-human robot (Ealy) as they fight crime and investigate a deeper cover-up in a futuristic new world.

Almost Human arrives in 2013.

This looks pretty awesome for tv... as long as it is plot driven and not just a "bad guy of the week" formula

I hope that it lasts by getting a lot of viewers. It does look excellent. But it also looks very expensive.

You had me at Karl Urban!

Keith Urban!?! He can act too? Oh, wait...Ok. It's good to be pals with Abrams. Besides movies he can also put you on one of his shows.

I agree. It looks good and there is a lot of potential in this storyline. This human cop with robot partner has been tried a few times for TV with Future Cop, Mann & Machine, and Total Recall 2070. Hopefully, this one will have some legs.

I am completely impressed by this trailer.  I agree with fatpantz as well.  The villan of the week formula is death to inspired sci-fi series.

Had to stop watching the trailer, it was giving everything away. Looks good though. Between this & SHIELD, I now have 2 shows I'll actually watch on TV again.

My initial thoughts when I read the show description was that this was a variation of Shatner's Tek War series. After seeing the trailer I can say this will be WAY better than that (books or movies) ever was.

There might be another reason to watch Fox besides football.
