Evil Dead II (1987) or better known as Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn starring Bruce Campbell and directed by Sam Raimi. This is a sequel to the popular The Evil Dead (1981).

Now why review a sequel? Wouldn’t you need to see the original first? No. Evil Dead 2 is more of remake than a sequel. Yes, there is one character from the first that does go back to where the original took place. But when you see the original and the sequel… you have to ask why would anyone go back?

Evil Dead 2 is the story about Ash, Campbell, a young man who takes girlfriend Linda, Denise Bixler, up to a little mountain get away. They find an old tape recorder and play it. The voice on the tape reads passages from the Book of Dead bringing demons in the forest to life. Linda is possessed and Ash has to defend himself and basically save the world.

This is horror movie and you will find it in the horror section. However it is more of a splatter comedy. There are scary parts but there is comedy to Evil Dead 2 that walks hand in hand with the scary parts. The possessed deer head mounted to the wall is one of my favorites. Everyone I have ever showed this movie to has loved it. Why? Because this is a fun movie with great thrills: it's an adventure story, a horror movie, a bit of Rambo, a touch of the A-team, and it has some of the best camera work ever (especially for a B-Horror movie). Bruce Campbell is inviting in his role as Ash. What I mean by that is you have to make a decision if you are on board for this crazy rollercoaster and accept Ash as your hero. You will be and you will love every minute of it.

Now at the end of the movie there is moment where you will be in shock and awe, but don’t fret, there is Army of Darkness (1992) aka "Army of Darkness: Evil Dead 3" to tell you what happened next.
