With the Universal release still a month away, the studio and director Jon Favreau have launched a third trailer for their upcoming comic adaptation, Cowboys & Aliens. Check it out below and sound off with your opinions.

The film stars Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, Olivia Wilde, Sam Rockwell, Adam Beach, Paul Dano, Noah Ringer, Keith Carradine, Clancy Brown, Ana de la Reguera and Abigail Spencer. Iron Man helmer Favreau took on the direction, based on a screenplay by Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman, Damon Lindelof, Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby.

Plot Concept: 1873. Arizona Territory. A stranger (Craig) with no memory of his past stumbles into the hard desert town of Absolution. The only hint to his history is a mysterious shackle that encircles one wrist. What he discovers is that the people of Absolution don't welcome strangers, and nobody makes a move on its streets unless ordered to do so by the iron-fisted Colonel Dolarhyde (Ford). It's a town that lives in fear.

But Absolution is about to experience fear it can scarcely comprehend as the desolate city is attacked by marauders from the sky. Screaming down with breathtaking velocity and blinding lights to abduct the helpless one by one, these monsters challenge everything the residents have ever known.

Now, the stranger they rejected is their only hope for salvation. As this gunslinger slowly starts to remember who he is and where he's been, he realizes he holds a secret that could give the town a fighting chance against the alien force. With the help of the elusive traveler Ella (Olivia Wilde), he pulls together a posse comprised of former opponents—townsfolk, Dolarhyde and his boys, outlaws and Apache warriors—all in danger of annihilation. United against a common enemy, they will prepare for an epic showdown for survival.

Cowboys & Aliens invades theaters July 29, 2011.

This actually looks fun!  Could be a hard sell to the general public though...  Cowboys vs Aliens?? lol

The graphic novel wasn't very good but I will be there for this one.  That's a lot of talent to not have a decent movie.  A western-sci-fi mashup with a hot chick.  What's not to like?

I had not read the graphic novel till the other day.  This looks quite a bit different.

I think that's funny.  They are doing the same thing Marvel did with releasing the Cap trailer last week.  They are worried about a crowded July and being able to bring home any of the summer money.

I agree with dalgoda, I'll be seeing this as well but won't be there opening weekend as i'll be at a cottage the weekend this comes up.

Transformers this weekend, 150 mil opening weekend anyone?  With 3D sales I think it might push TDK record.  If not I know Potter is going to beat it.

Wiseguy 6/27/2011 6:21:44 AM

Hobbs I would agree since I said Transformers 3 has a good chance at doing the closest thing to AVATAR numbers since AVATAR. But opening weekend will be skewed because the film opens Tuesday night and will have lost a tad of its steam by the weekend. If it had opened Friday I think it would've broken the record

As far as this, it just seems underwhelming to me. Nothing has wowed me in any trailer and in this summer with so many tentpole films it seems to pale in comparison. I may be doing repeats with Captain America the weekend this opens but I'm sure I'll get to it sooner or later

god i hate it when someone mentions AVATAR, worst movie in history, piece of sh&^

I plan on seeing this but my kid - who loves alien movies - thinks this looks stupid. I don't know how other tweens fill about this but that could spell doom for this movie.

madmanic999 6/27/2011 9:59:26 AM

god i hate when someone hates on AVATAR, fantastic movie (if for nothing than just the visuals), douchebags.

I love when something becomes so popular that it is in fashion to hate it...

elrushbo 6/27/2011 11:51:53 AM

Transformers 3 will not do anything close to Avatar numbers, it will do well but not like that
