Thomas Jane's Punisher short

The kindest thing you can say about Thomas Jane’s 2004 movie The Punisher is that it’s the best Punisher movie by default, since the character also inspired a terrible 1989 film starring Dolph Lundgren and a terrible, terrible, terrible 2008 film starring Ray Stevenson. But the experience of making the movie apparently stuck with Jane. At San Diego Comic-Con this past weekend, Jane debuted an expensive-looking 10-minute short film about a character who is clearly the Punisher, although the film — titled “Dirty Laundry” — is carefully constructed to avoid any potential lawsuits. The short also features an appearance by Ron Perlman. Fair warning: It’s extremely violent. But as directed by Phil Joanou (Gridiron Gang), it’s also pretty fun.

Jane calls the film “a love letter” to the Punisher character and his fans, and swears he’s not looking to make an Internet campaign out of this. Too bad. We can all agree that this is his finest performance since his comedic turn in the rigidly formulaic popcorn movie Homeless Dad. He just wants his kids back!

Thanks to
monkeyfoot for the submission.

Damm, my comments aren't being posted!!

That little movie was cool (I like the ''Dark Knight'' music).

The 2nd Punisher movie was ok...more violent but Jigsaw was horrible. If this could bring back Jane into the character, that would be awsome.

The best Punisher movie ever! :)

I liked Jane as the punisher. In my opinion the issue was the direction. I want to see a director make the audience scared of the punisher. I want brutal violence with brutal violent villians. The punisher is a man who's only purpose is to "punish" the evil. It doesnt even have to be a movie Would love to see HBO or Showtime pick up a punisher series. I think the character would better play out on a series anyway

That was freakin awesome. Why don't they make another with Jane and do it right this time. Quit getting goofy people playing the villains.

After seeing this, they definately need to get Jane and Joanou working on a film ASAP. Jane was the best Punisher and it was a shame the director didn't do the film justice.

Joanou seems to understand what the Punisher is truly about and this short shows.

This 10 min short > than all Punisher movies.

I always thought the Jane film was pretty good.  My only real beef was the setting being Miami instead of NYC.

Did Jane license Zimmer's score from Dark Knight for this?

 This is awesome!

FYI, Robert, the most recent (Ray Stevenson) Punisher movie (War Zone) was 8,647 times better than the Dolph Lundgren one!!!

Yeah this was kick ass.  Jane was a great Punisher in a sub par movie.  I liken it to Brandon Routh in Superman.  Loved how he just left the lighter for someone else to finish.

I haven't read any Punisher comics.  Can anyone who has tell me if it's in his character to just let a situation get so bad before he steps in?  I know it was played like that for dramatic effect but I just kept wondering if that was in character.

The Punisher just messed people up . Mostly anyone committing crime - mob bosses and other scum basically. He was compared to batman but with just one hitch. He killed people.

Maybe for this it was in character just waiting on it and then striking but for the most part he never waited around in the comics. Tactical he was since he's ex special forces/ Cop.
