Not sure if anyone saw my last post regarding last weeks synopsis, so I'll repost.  It was regarding the "shadowy figure" and I believe Wise is right that it's Surtur.

Directly from Marvel's website:

The final world is Muspelheim and that is the world ruled by Surtur and home to his fire demons. Muspelheim is on a separate plane of existence from all the other Nine Worlds and is said to predate recorded time as well as Niffleheim.

So it looks like it is most probably Surtur who is the "shadowy figure" and the "enemy that Odin and Asgard can't withstand".

Higgy I think that makes all the sense in the world. I think it could lead straight into Ragnarok for the trilogy finale

Guess we''ll have to wait for the leaks to start coming before we know for sure

And it still doesn't mention the Dark Elves.

Surtur would be the next logical step up in terms of bad guys. In norse mythology he was the king of the fire giants, who were more powerful than frost giants. As far as Ragnarok goes, that would be nearly incomprehensible to imagine its scope, but I imagine the ILM artists could pull it off. Only problem with that is that Thor is killed by the Midguard serpent. Oh wait, he was killed by the destroyer in the first movie too.... eh, maybe then.
