One of our favorite science fiction movies of the past few years was the subtle, emotional Moon starring Sam Rockwell. Latino Review chatted with director Duncan Jones, who is putting the finishing touches on his new movie Source Code. Jones revealed that he was offered the job directing Judge Dredd but turned it down.
"I would have loved to do the Judge Dredd movie that is underway. I was in fact sent the script to look at. Its a great script, and I hope I will not rue the decision of passing on it," Jones said. "Thing was, I had such a strong idea of what I wanted to do with a Dredd movie, I could not bring myself to take it on and not do it my way! And it's not like I could do it as a sequel either; my Dredd would have been really weird, and dark and funny, but not your traditional introduction to a hero character. I don't even know if I could have made my version of the film pitch-able. It was maybe too off the wall."
Cinemablend chatted with director Edgar Wright this week and pried loose some comments about his long-planned Ant-Man movie. On many fans minds is the question of whether or not the character will appear in The Avengers as initially planned. Rumors (groundless though they may be) that the character is in the movie and that certain actors are attached to play him have been rampant in recent months.
Wright told Cinemablend that he's had conversations with Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige about how the Marvel mini-hero fits into the super group pic. Based
"The chronology of [Wright's Ant-Man script] or the way it works wouldn’t really fit in with what they do. And my film is very much an introduction to that character, and so it wasn’t something where it felt right to introduce him in that film," Wright said, "Maybe if I do the solo Ant-Man film and maybe there’s a later Avengers then they could draft him in later. But it didn’t work with the kind of the angle that we were going to do with the origin that I’d written."
Yesterday Eva Longoria debunked the idea that she'd appear as the Wasp in The Avengers. Now it looks as if Ant-Man will have to wait as well.

One of the upcoming adaptations we can't wait to see is the Cartoon Network CGI original film Firebreather, based on the awesome comics by Phil Hester and Andy Kuhn. The network screened the first footage from the movie, directed by Aeon Flux creator Peter Chung, at Comic-Con on Sunday.
Now, Comics Continuum has posted the clip online.
Firebreather deals with Duncan Rosenblatt, a teen who is half human/half dragon. This scene finds the outcast youngster fleeing from some high school bullies. We're still waiting for a good look at Duncan in full, Firebreather form, battling some Kuhn-a-rifiic monsters, but this will do for now...
Smallville launches into its final season this fall and The CW has released a trailer for the upcoming run. Did we just see a red cape?!
Bloody Disgusting has our first look at the direct-to-home-entertainment sequel 30 Days of Night: Dark Days. We gotta say, we like what we see here as Stella Oleson (now played by Kiele Sanchez), goes on the offensive and takes the fight out of Barrow, Alaska and to the vampires wherever they may hide.
Here's a clip that needs no introduction (but we'll give one anyway): Almost six minutes of Thor that were presented to a screaming audience at Comic-Con on Saturday night.
Watch it while you can!
UPDATED: Sorry! Paramount is telling us that asking websites not to carry the Thor footage, which was not part of a controlled, studio-orchestrated leak. We are, of course, happy to cooperate.
