With the month of April upon us, we have one more month before Marvel Studios and Paramount Pictures unleashes Thor into 3D theaters across the nation. A frequently-asked question in this promotional campaign is when they would have a chance to get a closer look at the helmets for Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston). Well, the wait is over for some as the two studios have revealed two new posters at the Wondercon showcasing their protective head gear. Check them out below and sound off with your thoughts.

The film also stars Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Rene Russo, Stellan Skarsgard, Jaimie Alexander, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Samuel L. Jackson, Josh Dallas, Tadanobu Asano, Idris Elba, Clark Gregg and Colm Feore. Helmer Kenneth Branagh led the direction, based on a screenplay by Ashley Edward Miller, Zack Stentz and Don Payne.

Plot Concept: The story spans the Marvel Universe from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is the mighty Thor (Chris Hemsworth), a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth by his father Odin (Anthony Hopkins) and is forced to live among humans. A beautiful, young scientist, Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), has a profound effect on Thor, as she ultimately becomes his first love. It's while here on Earth that Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.

Thor will arrive in 3D/2D theaters May 6, 2011.

Ooh, very nice!

Cool, Although I reckon designers are all using the same software these days as Loki helmet is very Magneto & that one was all streamlined like a modern car! It's a very modern design which is good for the fantasy element but this type of look has only existed for the past 20 years with the use of 3-D modelling software, it's like art deco-nouveau lol.

I wonder how the actor playing Loki keeps his head upright with all that weight from the horns? That might make a special feature on the DVd: A gag reel of him bumping stuff & falling over...

Me likes! VERY impatient for Thor to arrive!

Helmets or no helmets, this flick will own!  Very excited.  It's shaping up to be quite the mythological epic.

We'll watch rap give way to Nordic Speak...Instead of saying, "I'm bumping it with the homeboys," we'll all be shouting, "I doth haveth some fine ales with mine valiant comrades.  Verily!"

lookin good, lookin good....Thor and Cap in the same summer...and they both look sweet, i never would have believed this could happen if someone had said it to me 10 years ago....great time to be a Marvel fan!

You know, I'd be willing to see Green Lantern in 3D simply because of all the CGI effects.   They just seem to work better in that format.  Now, when I saw Thor's trailer in front of Tron Legacy...the effect was dodgy at best.  I think I'll take this film in 2D.

InnerSanctum 4/2/2011 2:58:28 PM

Based on the trailer, he says Asgard is a combination of earth's science and fantasy.  Something like that. Did someone mention they are an alien race?  Then he wouldn't be a Norse god at all.  Just curious.

OmegaDean 4/2/2011 4:47:39 PM

Inner Sanctum He says no such thing.  What he says is a variation on what Arthur C Clark called his 3 laws in particular law number 3 "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic"... Thor says:  "Your ancestors called it magic, You call it science, where I come from the two are one in the same."  (Trailer 2)

As far as the design of the helmets I like it since they should be sufficiently advanded, perhaps when men viewed them in the past... the helemts made were the best man could do with there crude technology of ancient times... I mean all theigs are completly plausible with a little thought and creativity

Posters do nothing for me and I doubt they'd do anything to influence anyone who doesn't know Thor to see the film. Can't wait for the film, but I will not be seeing it in 3D. Tron was a complete waste of the extra $3 for 3D and I think Thor would be the sme.
