Loved Thor... it was action packed, didn't take itself too seriously but didn't insult the genre audience either, it actually felt like a marvel comic... I actually liked it as much or more than Ironman... can't wait for Cap, and really cant wait for Avengers...

I'm calling it first here: Pirates will make good money, but will show signs of audience fatigue and it won't make more than any of the previous films.  (See Shrek 4)

So......I'm preparing my humble crow pie for eating my words on Thor. I had it's final numbers looking to be somewhere in the 157-167 range, and really thought it would have taken a bigger drop this weekend. But, hey, congrats to all involved in Thor. They did their job in making a hit, right?

Saw Bridesmaids. It was funny. I don't think it's the whole "holy crap funniest female comedy ever" because it did feel like a lot of scenes dragged for an extra 5-10 seconds, and sometimes, that's enough to slow things down. Casting was great, and the girl from Mike & Molly was hilarious. If you have a few bucks, or a steady girl, go check it out. I can say it's recommendable.

And I'm all for Pirates being canned. The movie just has not sold me yet from any previews, and there's no way I'm going to watch Mr. Ed try and speak broken english for two hours.

(for those who don't know, Penelope Cruz is in the main female role as Mr. Ed. A woman with a face that looks like a squashed horse.....or an anteater)

Do you reeeeallly wanna listen to her talk for 2 hours ?

(BTW, Hobbs, that 130 person? It was me just looking at numbers and comparing to Incredible Hulk at the time. as I said, preparing my humble crow pie now)

And as I said with Thor, which I figure will be a memory come memorial day with Pirates, Panda II, Hangover II all out, you have X-Men First Class coming the week after.

As much as I didn't see Thor going all 'roid rage on the box office, I do not see Pirates being that big. I know, I know, I may be getting ahead of myself, but look at the fact that it's also been 4 years since the sequel and everyone thought the last two were bloated. It'll have a massive first weekend, at least between 90-110, but I don't really see it passing 225-250. And while some may say hey wait 250 is huge in the US. Consider the first Pirates took in 300 mil us, and the 2nd did darn near or over 400.

Hector Barbossa is all I would see to make this movie a Pirates life for me

Mr Ed = LOL!

I was at Disneyworld with the family a few weeks ago and they had someone dressed and act like Angelica of this new movie at the entrance of the Pirates ride. I have to admit. This Angelica was 100 times more gorgeous and had the great accent to boot. I wish she was playing Angelica in the movie.

I cant wait to watch Thor again myself. Loved that movie!

on a totally different subject, saw Skyline last night. DO NOT WATCH IT!!! Is it that hard to write up characters that have some REALISTIC logical sense in movies?? And what a horrible way to end a movie!!!  UUGGHHH

ElBaz13 5/16/2011 12:39:48 PM

I would love to see Thor again but it makes for an expensive night out and so many more movies to see. I will just save the cash for the blu-ray. I'm positive I will be buying Cap on blu-ray as well. :)

Saw Thor twice, diffently good job marvel, liked they introduced Hawkeye in the movie.  Violator14 you could not use strong enough words for the poor job in that movie, least you payed rental, I was stupid paid 10.00.  Looking forward to all the up coming movies i will have to check out Bridesmaids and Priest, both looked like they were worthwhile.  No movies for this weekend:( did that wonderfully insane Bay to Brealers Marathon in SF, that was a strange one.....

Skyline was bad.  The last movie I saw which had such unsympathetic characters was a movie from the '80s called Q about when New York City was attatcked by Quetzequatal.

Glad I returned Skyline without watching it then.
