VARIETY covers the Sci Fi Channel's announcement of a series adaptation of Marvel comic book STRIKEFORCE: MORITURI as A THOUSAND DAYS. The project is described as "one of two" Marvel collaborations for Sci Fi, although the article does not elaborate on the second.

Sci Fi will spend, with sibling USA Network, $300 to 400 million on original programming though 2005, says parent Universal TV chairman-CEO Michael Jackson. Jackson's boss at Vivendi Universal, Barry Diller, notes that original programming such as the channel's wildly successful TAKEN miniseries is what will challenge competitor Viacom.

Viacom's head, Mel Karmazin, recently noted his operation's interest in acquiring Sci Fi or developing a competitor.
