THQ To Publish SOPRANOS Video Game

By: Karl Schneider
Date: Friday, May 05, 2006

THQ, widely known for their children's titles, will be getting a little darker and lot bloodier. Sopranos, the massively popular HBO series, is being adapted into a video game to launch this fall for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 2.

"Fans of the show are always looking for other ways to get connected to the series and characters, so putting a game controller in their hands along with a TV remote lets them be part of the show in a way they can't by just watching television," said Carmi Zlotnik, executive VP new-media programming at HBO.

All the major characters of the hit TV Series will lend their voices to the game.

Didn't anyone learn ANYTHING from how shitty the GODFATHER game is?

Because clearly one bad mob game must mean all mob games will be bad.

The Godfather game has an average 8.1 out of 10 rating amongst reader reviews on ign.com. I'd say that makes it a pretty highly-regarded game!

Pfffft. What do readers and gamers know? I'm more interested in what the "professional" critics have had to say about the Godfather game.

Most "professional" critics gave the Godfather game a positive review. So far it's the best Grand Theft Auto clone I've played. I took my time with it and got about 35 hours worth of entertainment out of it. Is it as good as GTA? No, not even close, but it was still a great game.

Everyone is entitled to thier opinion, but
some people only feel cool when they're telling everyone something sucks. Usually those people have no idea what they're talking about.

As for the Sopranos game? Meh... as long as none of the missions revolve around getting Tony to his shrink, it might be okay. He's a bit too fat to run from the cops, so I don't see this being an action game...

I think the player should control Christopher, and the game should be about him coming up through the ranks, loosely based on episodes.

Will we be able to go into Badda Bing club! and see some pole dancers go starkers as we wave $5 dollar bills in their direction?

Will we be able to go out back and see some mobster beat to death a hooker?

If not then it's not a "true" Sopranos translation to the console. ;-)

BTW Why is it that most releases are totally ignoring the PC these days? If I can play a game like Elder Scrolls: Oblivion on the PC with no problems at full out options, then I should be able to play any title released on the XBox 360 as well!
