Three More for 24 Prequel Movie

We certainly have some TV action today, don't we Maniacs? Another bit of information has passed the news wires informing us that Tony Todd (Candyman, Final Destination) will be joining the 2 hour prequel movie as well as season 7 of "24" for Fox. Two others cast in the prequel movie are Eric Lively ("L Word") and Gil Bellows ("Ally McBeal").

The two hour prequel movie is based on the original story concept for season 7, which should have run last year (if there wasn't a WGA strike). 24 producers wanted to have the 7th season out of country but the budget proved too big for Fox executives so they axed it. With the strike delaying the series for another year, everyone agreed to introduce the Africa storyline back into the series with a 2 hour prequel movie to set up season 7.

Plot Concept:
The two-hour "24" prequel to the upcoming seventh season will feature Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) battling an international crisis in Africa while the U.S. ushers in a new president on Inauguration Day. Lively, brother of "Gossip Girl" star Blake Lively, will play the president's son. Bellows will play a State Department officer ordered to serve Bauer with a subpoena to appear before the Senate. Todd, who also will appear during Season 7, will play cruel African dictator Gen. Juma.

Whatever happened to the 24 movie?

Well, they talked about filming a theatrical movie between seasons last summer. But the WGA strike threw everything out of whack. Not sure if it's still on the slate now. This upcoming 2 hour TV movie is likely compensation for that as well.

Fox may look at the results of the prequel movie's rating (and likely DVD sales) and see if a theatrical movie is plausible or economical.

Wait - is the movie going to be out in theaters or is this movie for TV? Fine- I'm dense.

I thought The Sentinel with M.Douglas and Kiefer was the 24 movie.

Frankly, I'm tired of this series. I may watch this season because they've had so lo0ng to write that the storyline has to be kick-ass after that they need to make the movie and kill Jack once and for all or have him die saving the country one last time, either or.

Is this something that is supposed to come out this summer? Or is it one of those lead-ins to get people "caught up"? I want to make sure I don't miss this. I'm just glad that it's coming back. I wonder if, when the show's done with years from now, will the box set skip a number in the sequence of seasons? Would look funny on my shelf.

Don't we have call it 26 now?

Ok just to clarify, no its not going to be in theaters, its a made for TV movie which means it will only be on TV and prob DvD after it airs. This is a prequel to the new season that starts later this fall. Its all explained if you read the whole section above.
And once again someone complains about something that viewers obviously like that is why
it has been renewed for 7 seasons. If you dont like the show do not watch it, its that
simple. I agree though with one thing, Jack should be killed off and a new person brought
into the story to follow. But i think they tried that with the partner he had in season 3
or 4 (Reese i think) and well, the audience hated him. But either way, this season should
kick butt.

I have to chime in again. First I never complain, I may disagree but not complain, about people's thoughts on anything, be they positive or not. That's what this site is for wether you like it or not. What tires me is people complaining because someone criticizes or dislikes something you like. If you don't like it let me suggest you stay off the posts. You only want to read positive stuff, go to that program's web page or somewhere else is that simple, Cfancher.

Thanks Jarrod.

Cfanchar - So you can’t complain about the series because people watch it? That makes 0 sense. I’ve seen the first 5 season of 24, have them on dvd but stopped watching season 6 cause I didn’t care for it and got tired of it. Regardless, I’m looking forward to season 7 since it’s in a different setting but if I don’t care for it I will complain about it regardless how many people are watching it or if it's getting renewed.

I still have yet to get sick of 24,,,,every time I feel it starts to slag a little, something happens and I am right back in its grip,,,,like in season 6 when Jack had to kill someone from CTU, I was in shock....I couldn't believe it....that's is why the show is so kick ass, they aren't afriad to go there....yes, it gets a little unbelievable with how many times Jack escapes from things, but it is still pretty grounded for such a crazy show.....in the words of Joe Swanson when melted to the driveway.....BRING IT ON!!!!!!
