Panabaker Leading FRIDAY THE 13TH - Apr 17, 2008 - 02:15am
Damn, other than the first one, I have hated every Friday the Thirteenth movie..All of them suck, and this one will too.

Breaking Ball Acquires Diehl's 27 - Apr 16, 2008 - 12:51am
This sounds like it can actually be a real good thriller depending on who the director is..

Connery wants to be 007's Daddy? - Mar 21, 2007 - 06:49pm
I think we are all missing the point here. The next movie is a follow up to CR. Some of the buzz concernsVesper Lynds ex boyfriend, an Algerian who is actually supposed to be the next villain. If they keep with that premise, the next Bond movie is going to be awesome..Hopefully they will get someone such as Oded Fehr or Arnold Vosloo to play the villain. There is a lot of unfinished business left over from the first film, and I heard that Barbara Broccoli wants to make it into a sort of trilogy. I don't know how they could fit Sean Connery into that without it being silly. Also using Roger Moore or Sean Connery as a villain would just be a little too camoy. Cr was great because it broke away from a lot of the bs. If Daniel Craig nails it like he did in CR, he in my opinion will be the best Bond ever.

Aaron Eckhart talks "The Dark Knight" - Feb 28, 2007 - 02:37am
I agree with exfan. I think Christian Bale is the best Batman yet. He has the right kind of depth for this role. I do believe though that the others are excellent actors, they just weren't the ones for this role. Aaron Eckhart is perfect for Harvey Dent. I have been a fan of his since I seen him in that indie film, "In the company of me". He was also great in "Thank You for Smoking." I am very excited for this film.

James Cameron finds Jesus? - Feb 27, 2007 - 03:12am
I just read a few of the comments, especially the ones towards the end, and as usual people can't stick to the point of the article. I also find it rather amusing that others have to spout off their credentials while at the same time losing their self control. I will leave my beliefs at the door, or lack thereof, because truthfully it isn't anyones business. This is a pop culture web site so lighten up. To be on point an earlier post suggested that James Cameron is doing this documentary as a publicity stunt. In my opinion I would have to agree. James Cameron may be a brilliant film maker, but he has a reputation for being a world class ass and egomaniac. As much as I would love to abhor him as a human being, like Mel Gibson I still can recognize his talent. I just don't know what his motives are for fueling the fires of controversy. Rather than opening things up for a mature dialogue, he will just piss people off. Religion can be a little divisive. Just look at a lot of the comments posted above.

2007 Oscar Winners - Feb 26, 2007 - 02:32am
Oops yeah. Dreamgirls..Sorry, Showgirls sucked. I have seen that one. Best supporting Actor went to Alan Arkin for Little Miss Sunshine. That was an excellent movie.

2007 Oscar Winners - Feb 26, 2007 - 02:21am
Almost exactly as I predicted. I haven't seen Showgirls, but I heard Jennifer Hudson just kills it. I also heard that Eddie Murphy's performance was his best ever. I am happy that Martin Scorsese finally was recognized. I am surprised that Pan's Labyrinth didn't win for best foreign language film, but I would have to see Lives of Others before i make a complete judgment. Forest Whitaker was so underrated. After tonight we fortunately will be seeing him in a lot of really good roles.

AfterDark acquires "The Tribe" - Feb 23, 2007 - 02:24am
The cast looks rather uhmm, lame. Are you sure this isn't a direct to DVD film?

Holly Valance joins "Taken"? - Feb 22, 2007 - 03:23am
Does this mean that Maggie Grace will be forced into the sex slave trade, or will she be forced to sew the new Air Jordans at a sweat shop. This movie sounds like it might be good. Liam Neeson is a very good actor. Someone yesterday mentioned how annoying Maggie Grace was on Lost. I have to agree, but damn she is pretty hot.

Jim Hill talks Disney Franchises - Feb 22, 2007 - 03:16am
Yeah, but look at the rest of the slate. We all knew more Narnia films are forthcoming. A Prince of Persia film should be exciting. John Carter of Mars, well I can't wait for those films. As for Pirates, lets wait and see how the next film is..I may be in the minority, but I actually enjoyed the second installment. I do believe, in order for the franchise to be successful, Disney should start fresh with all new characters. As much as I admire Johnny Depp in the role as Jack Sparrow, I think there are a lot of directions that a brand new trilogy can go. National Treasure was just a dumbed down Indiana Jones meets Robert Langdon, so I am not terribly excited to see those films. Overall it looks like Disney is going to have a very lucrative future. l

Robert K. Shaye says "The Hobbit" in 2009 - Feb 21, 2007 - 04:42am
Yeah I agree, The Rage. Thanks by the way for bringing things back on topic. There is to much digression going on here. We have went from Lord of the rings, to the best movies ever made, to the Boondock Saints. I am wondering how some of you can call each other stupid, when you can't even stay on point..Anyhow, Rage you have echoed my sentiments exactly. There was an earlier post though that brought up an interesting prospect. Guillermo Del Toro. I actually think that given the money, the right cast including Ian McCellan, and if he has the same love for the material it actually may turn out good. I don't think it needs to be filmed in New Zealand, but a top notch staff and effects team are mandatory. So with all of these hurdles to make The Hobbit right not even Del Toro would work. I am holding out for a miracle that PJ will eventually make it..Pans Labyrinth was brilliant though...Y'all if you haven't seen it, go!!! My second favorite movie of the year after The Departed..LOL..Now I went off topic.

Robert K. Shaye says "The Hobbit" in 2009 - Feb 19, 2007 - 08:53pm
Y'all crack me up. I can actually conjure up images of pissed off people huddling over their keyboards defending their opinions, while at the same time slandering the other person as if they actually know that person. Aside from a few opinions regarding movies, we don't know each other..So I will refrain from calling darthcaifan an idiot just because he doesn't like Lord of the Rings. I do agree with his point though regarding The Academy Awards. The English Patient, I am sorry, but it sucked. The Lord of the rings was great, not because it was three hours, excuse me nine hours long, but because it was lush, cinematic, well acted, and a faithful adaptation of Tolkiens classic. Well close. Fans still question why Tom Bombadil wasn't included in The Fellowship. I digress, The Hobbit may have a lighter tone, but it is part of The saga of Middle Earth. I believe that Peter Jackson with his love and respect for the material is the only person that should do this film.

Tony Kaye to direct "Black Water Transit" - Feb 19, 2007 - 02:59am
It sounds a lot like The Departed...I think this one will be good as well.

Shia LaBeouf joins "Indiana Jones 4"? - Feb 19, 2007 - 02:57am
Hmmm, it looks like things are slowly starting to gather some steam. I can't wait..I have been looking forward to this Indiana Jones for well forever..

Robert K. Shaye says "The Hobbit" in 2009 - Feb 19, 2007 - 02:54am
Exactly, KJ. "How in the Hell." I hope this thing is in limbo, until New Line no longer has the rights to this film. In the past I have commented, and mentioned how I would not like to see a Sam Raimi treatment of The Hobbit. Others felt that I should give him a chance, based on his success with The Spiderman franchise. Sorry, I am sticking to my guns on this one. Peter Jackson is the only person I want to see make this film. Sam Raimi will not give the same amount of love and detail. Furthermore, on the topic of the ongoing feud between Shaye and Jackson, Shaye needs to recognize that Peter Jackson made New Line a recognizable name. If I were Shaye, I would be swallowing my ego right about now, and compromising, because in reality he needs Jackson more than Jackson needs him. I hope this thing is in development hell for the next ten years.

Cameron talks "Avatar" cast - Feb 18, 2007 - 03:39am
I am just trying to figure out how I can be excited for a film where the main character is a parapalegic. I like my science fiction with action and suspense. Movies such as Contact, and Solaris bored me to tears. Look people, I know how everyone adores James Cameron. A lot of you believe the guy walks on water, but just as he is capable of delivering a thought provoking film, he is just as capable of delivering a pile of pretentious overwrought drek. So hold the expectation, because in reality we have no idea what this film is actually about.

Carter B. Smith boards "The Ruins" - Feb 16, 2007 - 03:47am
No, no, no. Listen KJ, the only similarity between Turistas and The ruins is the setting, and the idea of using American vacationers as a plot device. Also Scott Smith is not just writing the book, he wrote the screen play as well. This guy is no slouch. Many may not remember, but he was nominated for an academy award for Best Adapted screenplay for A Simple Plan. This movie is going to be far from your standard horror movie. So don't dismiss it quite yet.

J.J. Abrams adapting "Dark Tower"? - Feb 14, 2007 - 04:04pm
I am probably the only person disagreeing. I really don't think that it is possible to give a film or a small screen treatment to these books. Not because of the reasons listed above, but rather because these books are a representation of a self indulgent, convoluted mess that as a reader and fan of the Dark Tower ticked me off. The first five books were excellent. The last two were like someone pulling the chair out from under me and laughing as he did so. With the mess that Lost currently is, I think JJ Abrams would be perfect.

Adam Shankman to direct "Bedtime Stories" - Feb 08, 2007 - 04:36am
A live action Aladdin...Hmmm, with the success of Pirates of the Caribbean. If done right, It could actually be very good. As for Bedtime Stories, I don't know...Jumanji, Zathura, and Night at The Museum worked on a similar fantastical concept. I guess people just don't get tired of it.

"The Departed" Sequel Update - Feb 08, 2007 - 02:49am
A sequel, or a prequel, it really doesn't matter. They would be smart to leave this one alone. Or they could just think of the new film as something else. I really don't think even with DeNiro attached that the sequel will match the intensity of the Departed. Besides, unlike The Godfather this seems like a closed story without much maneuvering for any further films. Excellent film by the way. I know a few people that haven't seen it. I asked if they were on acid as they were telling me about the sheer awesome exuberance of Night at the Museum.

Ben Barnes joins "Prince Caspian" - Feb 04, 2007 - 03:36am
Yeah that is true, it is very unprofessional, but this is his career we are referring to. I don't think there is an actor out there that would have passed this opportunity up. Besides it isn't like us movie fans are going to join him for a cup of tea, or a beer. As an audience, all the viewer cares about is the end result.

Jet Li joins "Mummy 3" - Feb 04, 2007 - 03:29am
Okay if Jet Li is the Mummy in the next unnecessary sequel what will he bring to the character? My hope is that he will bring the same amount of menace as he did in Lethal weapon 4. If so, this might be a very good casting choice.

David Goyer off of "The Flash" - Feb 04, 2007 - 03:17am
LOL...Are you kidding me? Who is this MLAforcer. I really can't understand the point he is trying to make. This person hides behind a keyboard and thinks he is tough because he can throw out some hate...Lets keep it clean..We all can agree to disagree. Anyhow, I disagree. The Flash isn't necessarily a hot property. Wonder Woman though...wow. Joss Whedon no longer being attached is very sad. I believe he would have made a perfect fit.

"The Reaping" Final Poster - Jan 30, 2007 - 04:38am
Actually this movies premise reminds me of that Demi Moore movie..I think it was called the Seventh Sign. Yeah you are right with Hillary Swank attached it should actually be very good.

"Bond 22" Update - Jan 30, 2007 - 03:44am
Daniel Craig has exceeded everyones expectations in this role. I am actually quite pleased that Clive Owen turned down the job. I am, however holding my breath on calling him the best James Bond since Shaun Connery. I mean it has only been one film. Lets wait for about three films, before establishing his legacy. I do believe that The director has played on his strengths to make him the most edgiest Bond we have seen. It is good news that they are keeping with the same flow as the first film, and as Neil Purvis mentioned Q so far is unnecessary. By the way ex-fan I really don't think you can compare Star Trek to James Bond...Peas and carrots man..You can compare the new James Bond to Jason Bourne though.

HBO Acquires "A Song of Ice and Fire" - Jan 18, 2007 - 02:34am
Danny Devito would make a great Tyrion Verbal Kent, Hmmm although I sincerely doubt he would commit to this. I don't know who else, but this is going to be an awesome series, and will give me an excuse to upgrade my cable service. Indeed this is the best television news I have heard in some time.

HBO Acquires "A Song of Ice and Fire" - Jan 17, 2007 - 02:31am
This series is in good hands..HBO does a great job with all of their series. Rome for example is amazing. I anticipate that the series will be as edgy as the books. This is the best adult fantasy out there right now.

Golden Globe Winners (2006) - Jan 16, 2007 - 02:52am
Wow Babel? It is a great film, but I am very surprised. Helen Mirren Isn't a surprise. I also am very happy for Martin Scorsese. The Departed was an amazing film. For some reason Pan's Labyrinth really stands out as an excellent movie. I hope the Academy considers it for Best Foreign Film..

Peter Jackson Responds - Jan 12, 2007 - 02:41am
If Peter Jackson doesn't do the Hobbit, it will flop. Bob Shaye needs to be kissing Jacksons furry arse. Jackson may be greedy, but he is a genious and has a passion for the material. Who is in the right? None of us will ever know the behind the scenes dealings, but what we do know is that this film is in development hell and if rushed by someone else will not work. The petty squabbling between the two really hurts the movie lover.

Columbia goes spying with "Edwin A. Salt" - Jan 12, 2007 - 02:33am
Hmmm, is it possible to just report the news? How many people really want to get this guys opinion on everything? I for one would love to see another spy thriller. As for same premise, why not look at all of the supernatural thrillers out there. "Been there done that."
