Finally, we have a trailer for Kenneth Branagh’s Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit. Now IMDB is stating that it will have a December 25th release date. Will it get pushed back to January? Only time will tell and Martin Scorsese ability to trim The Wolf of Wall Street (see story here as to why).

Synopsis: Jack Ryan (Pine), as a young covert CIA analyst, uncovers a Russian plot to crash the U.S. economy with a terrorist attack.

Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit: Chris Pine, Kevin Costner, Keira Knightley and is directed by Kenneth Branagh (Thor).

 Jack Ryan is back...again.

I think Ford's Ryan was the best, but they've all been pretty good.

I liked Baldwin the best by far and being in the best of all the films in the series probably doesn't hurt.

I can't believe the studio has enough balls to make the Russians the bad guys. Nowadays studios seem scare to offend any country with a decent box office. I want to see which one has the balls the make the Chinese the bad guys

Great point Wiseguy, it seems more and more studios are getting scared of making certain ''typical'' bad guys so obviously from a larger country like Russia, China, etc.. .

It would be nice to go back to the old days of having bad guys from all over the world and not fear to ''offend'' anyone for the love of money.

The trailer looks interesting, looks way more action wise then thriller wise and that seems to be a big shift from the past Ryan movie (including the horrible Affleck version).

Should be fun, looks interesting.

This looks good.  I hope it is and that they continue the series throughout his career until he becomes president. I've really enjoye all 4 other Jack Ryan films but I never liked how they all felt like singular stories instead of part of a series following the career of one man.

I am a fan of Branagh's work both acting and directing, so I'd be down for this.

Not sure how I feel about action hero Jack Ryan.  That's why they had Mr. Clark and Ding Chavez.  I also think the title is not very Tom Clancy.  OK, it's a Tom Clancy video game title, but it's not a Jack Ryan story.  Cardinal of the Kremlin is a Jack Ryan title.  It looks like a good movie, I'm just not sure it's Jack Ryan. And that opening fight scene looked EXACTLY like the one Bourne had in the bathroom with that other assassin.

Chris Pine has won me over as a lead. His work in Star Trek was outstanding. I think he can carry this series for 3-4 films. Branagh's use of angle and wide shots it great, can't wait to see this film. I do hope he is pretty "green," he's not supose to start out as a Jason Born type character.

This looks fine but it doesn't make me go WOW! Trying to look objectively it comes across like any standard poiltical espionage thriller. The only thing that makes it something I'd consider seeing is that it is Clancy's Jack Ryan character. All the movies have built up a liking for him. All the Ford ones are great but I could watch Red October 3 times a week.

I've never read Clancy's books but it looks like this isn't based on any specific one. Ryan has sort of become like James Bond and that they'll make up new stories for the screen for the character. I wonder if this will have the feel of the others?

"The Director of Thor"? Well, I guess you have to appeal to the action movie audience. It probably wouldn't do to say "The Acclaimed Director of Shakespeare's Henry V and Hamlet."

Looks.... decent, but not very "Jack Ryan-ish".  I know Tom Clancy was okay witht he changes (may he rest in peace) but overall I think I preferred the Jack Ryan of the books, the older analyst and married father of three, somewhat actiony but with the bulk of the violence, as dnbrit says, covered by John Clark and Ding Chavez.  I'll probably wait for it to come to cable.

Looks very cool, love all these movies.  Personally I like Alec Baldwin's version the best.
