Tim Story posted a new entry in his myspace blog and it deals with the upcoming FANTASTIC FOUR film.

Story writes:

Sorry guys,

I've been going crazy prepping this thing. Just got back from Vancouver, which is of course where we will be filming the movie, and things are shaping up. It's the hard part of the phase where I have to make the ..'s work. Even with 100+ mil, there's never enough money. Looking at the plan for the new Baxter Building interior and it's going to be hot. We're going more high tech and we're giving Reed Richards and the gang more gadgets this time around. The "4" logo will be everywhere as we are used to seeing it. They are a corporation now.

I'm going to use some looks that have been inspired from more recent comics, like in "The Ulimate Exstinction" and a little from the "Ultimate Fan Four" series. I know what you're thinking "Kirby, Kirby, Kirby!" There will be much props given to Kirby throughout the movie.

What I'm really excited about is the Fantasticar. It's coming guys in all it's glory. Wait until you see it. It's going to split in pieces and all that. Johnny and Ben fight over who should fly it. All the fun you expect.

Anyway, I'm jumping off. My kid's bday is today and I gotta set up a jumper and blow up balloons. Can't get in trouble. Sorry I haven't been giving you guys more info on a regular basis. I will. Understand there's always so much secrecy with this stuff but I'm going to continue to share in every way I can. Hopefully I'll be able to show some pictures in the near future. I want to keep you guys close to this process. It's going to be fun.

Until next time.

P.S. I'm typing so fast, so if anything's misspelled, forgive me.

Hopefully a picture of the Fantasticar will be leaked shortly!

I enjoyed the first movie despite its flaws. I think Ben and Johnny were terrific, and really look forward to the second film.

Ditto... and I'm also excited to see him mentioning such things as the Ultimate FF and really jazzed to hear him mention Ultimate Extinction-That's the 3rd series in the Ultimate Gla Ak Tus Series when he is about to arrive with the Ultimate Silver Surfer in tow.

The Silver Surfer was lame in Ultimate Extinction. Also, I fear the Fantasticar. I think it's one of those things that won't translate well to the big screen. Also, why would Johnny even want to fly it? You'd think he'd be like "Hey Ben, you fly around with help of that vehicle thing, I'll just burst into flames and move through the air under my own power." I would.

#3 - I'm hoping the Fantasticar looks great. Johnny would argue with Ben to get under Ben's (rocky) skin, and for that reason only. Story got Johnny and Ben's relationship perfect in the first movie, and I'm hoping that carries over into the second film. While I look forward to seeing the Silver Surfer on screen (will Galactus arrive in part 3?), I've always thought the character was too damn whiny.

Couldn't care less about SS, but I'm looking forward to FF2. I thought the first one was a riot.
Oh, I too am not thrilled about the car either.

Ben and Johnny were great in the 1st film, but they really need to give the team something cool to do. The 1st film felt too much like a setup film without a really payoff (I'm Doom) more like (I'm Lame). The Ultimate Gal Lak Tus line was some scary stuff. I wouldn't mind seeing that on film, but that would be a really long film. They'll probably do the Kirby version of the SS.

Actually The Ultimate Gal Lak Tus trilogy wouldn't be that long of a movie, considering each mini series was stretched at least 2 issues too long. Plus you'd have to trim all the X-Men/Avengers stuff

Yah... I guess that wouldn't be all that hard to do. The whole series of the Ultimate Nightmare was X-Men/Ultimates anyway.

I am glad to see some other people liked the first FF. I thought it was a fun movie. There were some things that could have been done differently, but overall, it was enjoyable. I wouldn't put it in the top tier of comics to film (Blade, Spider-Man 1 and 2, Batman Begins), but I would put it in the second tier (Blade II, Batman Returns, Spawn)

I look forward to the second one.

It should have been a top tier film... that's what I'm hoping FF2 will become with a better villain now that the "origin" story is out of the way.
